F22b1 head swap on f22a1
Hey all,
New to this site. So I've come to the conclusion that I want to put a F22B1 head on my A1. I've considered an H22 swap but something about the SOHC VTEC just lures me in with uniqueness and diversity of it. Just so I don't talk you head off I would like to know what all I need to do and what parts are essential to the head swap. Thank you.

That would be a step backwards. The f22b is considered the garbage of the f22 heads. Get an f22a6 head. H23 intake manifold and a 272 Delta regrind cam. That should be under 300$. Vtec is useless in the sohc. Read the thread in my signature. You will see What I mean.

x2 the F22B1 head is not a performance oriented VTEC. The VTEC is only on the intake valves.
Now if you were to buy an aftermarket cam, valve train, do an F23 intake manifold swap and use a tunable ECU then the F22B1 might be an upgrade. That being said, doing the same upgrades to your F22A1 head would be a better upgrade in my opinion.
Guessing that your next question might be about doing an H22 head swap....... not worth it ether!

h22 head swap is too much hassle take it from me if you can't get the oil galleys to not leak oil then you are gonna have the meanest headache ever. It gives you power but mad headaches later on. Now i went single cam lol.
