Default Euro R/Type S H22A Red Top VS. JDM H22A Black Top (discussion dyno's inside)

I had the chance to get up close with building a Euro R CB Station Wagon. Not something you'd see every day. I am a H22A nut so I thought I would share the results. I will have the dyno sheet up shortly.

What the 3 cars have in common, same dynojet, roughly same temp out, same tuner, P28 Crome

-CB Accord 91 SW-
98 Euro R motor 12k miles, Factory PnP and port match,
- Euro R single runner manifold, appears to be 67mm TB from factory?
- Greddy Header 1.9" collector
- Greddy Touring Exhaust 1.9" collector then spreads to 60mm
- High Flow Cat.
- Manual Tensioner Conversion
- AEM 2.75" Short Ram Generic 3" filter
- H22A crank pulley with use of AC and PS
- P28 Crome Tuned
- 2 wire IACV, 345 cc OBD1 injectors, OBD1 Dizzy
- AC and PS have been calculated by the tuner to be a loss of 1.1 whp.
- ESP Front Torque Mount Kit Traction Bar System

191 whp 152 ft lbs of torque -dyno sheet up shortly-
Peaked out with Akimoto Flow Stack no filter 199.2 whp
8 whp gain with the flow stack was shocking
Vtec cracked nice on the Euro R...

-90 Honda Crx HF-
OBD 1 JDM H22A re ring 1k miles
- ESP H22A 4-2-1 Header 2" primaries down low 2.5" Collector
- 2.5" exhaust system
- 3" Short Ram Air Intake Generic filter
- Manual Tensioner Conversion
- P28 Crome Tuned
- 30k mill of the head roughly 10.9-1 compression
- Port Matched
- Secondaries hooked to Vtec

200 whp 168 ft lbs of torque

-89 Honda Crx SI-
HMO OBD1 JDM H22A Crate
- ESP H22A 4-2-1 Header 2" primaries down low 2.5" Collector
- 2.5" exhaust system
- 3" Short Ram Air Intake Generic filter
- P28 Crome Tuned
- Secondaries hooked up to Vtec

204 whp 166 ft lbs of torque

92 Chevron pump on all 3 Euro R had an additive but nothing crazy...

Once I get the sheet up it will show how the stock dual runner intake manifold is a decent manifold for stock to semi built builds, it's what makes the torque...

Uhmmm... I just post BS just because. Waste of time.

On a customers "bone stock" h22 he made 195hp and 155 tq... not 200hp, but "damn close".

my 98 USDM motor with euro r intake, custom 1/2greddy 1/2 custom header, 3 inch exhaust and 3inch cai made 192hp/151tq.

its curious on the euro r motor the intake made a difference.. i changed my intake and manifold and didnt find much difference at all.

How's it hard to believe 200whp out of an R motor rated 217 hp @ the flywheel? It makes sense to me. After all it does have some slight mods.

one thing i forgot to ask.. why do you wire the secondarys to vtec?

take em out, you dont loose anything and pick up a little top end.

Am I the only one who read the thread or am I just retarded?

The "Euro R" motor is the only one that didn't make 200whp! The others are just your typical run of the mill JDM H22's.

Look how small the header on the euro R motor is though. 1.9" collector is killing it

Thinking what an SMSP might do for it sends chills down my spine. Taking off the filter gave 8 freaking horses already. Yowzer!

do you by chance have a dyno on the esp header that you guys make?
how does it compare to that of smsp or mugen?

so basically just having the simple i/h/e setup you had on the crx with the p28 gained you 204whp?
damn
makes me reconsider my set up

hearer is to small on the euro r.

its like comparing a b16b with a crap restrictive exhaust system to a bone stock b16a with some nice headers and bolt on's.

everyone know which block has the better potential in both cases, and its not the stock ones.
