that is bill gude behind that 8600 number....one of the several reasons he is not-so-mysteriously not a player in any capacity anymore in this industry.
Dave, converse to what Greg said, i actually think the numbers are fair considering the header mismatch (which is severe IMO) and old bill gudified cam profile
i think so far we've seen half the story. with more tuning, a different (better) cam and the right header, you will be right up there where you should be...
at this point you are making the power of a b16, rated at 160chp, with presumably a better torque curve...all w/ an engine originally rated at 106chp...and it's not nearly dialed in yet.

Dave and i have talked and decided that cam is for more RPM's than he wants to run. The lobe separation is prob. to large and to much duration. I did not degree the cams, just checked lift and valve to valve on the head itself, not installed. Because the "sweet spot" on the cam is very narrow it probably runs at a much higher RPM than he wants. He has a new cam coning and I would also like to see it on the stock SI cam.

awesome!
any idea on what "stage" cam? I am running a similar setup, only difference is the cam and header. The RaceA6 and a 421DC. ISKY vavletrain and the SECU from Zdyne. I am in the process of some ITB's, but family comes first. What headgasket are you using? Did i miss what engine management?
I love the All-Mota D !

Re: Dyno of SMSP D16 Street Car (busychild)
The cam should be at Exospeed Mnday or Tuesday, I still haven't decided what grind to go with.
I installed a new header tonight.

I guess I can see the appeal of this as a "fun project", but in reality You could likely have a B16 with bolt ons (and make roughly the same numbers) for the amount of money that an AVERAGE person would need to spend to get those numbers. Still a cool project though.

Re: Dyno of SMSP D16 Street Car
I believe I'm going with the Exospeed Stage 3 cam (A6 Race). Just not sure if I should opt for the springs so I could increase the redline beyond 7000 and make the bigger numbers that you guys like to see. I hope with the new header and cam I'll get a very nice bump in torque which will make this a nicer street engine than the B16, plus the car feels lighter than with the old B series in her.

Re: Dyno of SMSP D16 Street Car (MI KENT)
The Exospeed stage 3 (A6 Race) cam should be here towards the end of this week. Might dyno the week of the 13th or 20th.

I don't have numbers at 1mm. I just hope it helps bump the mid range.

nope shocker, the project has been stoped , sorry the car has been sold about a 1-2 month ago due some financial problem , so we only have the D16Y to play with --> https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1313920

When a D16 that has increased compression, cams, porting, and an SMSP header puts out more power and torque than a B18C with the same mods. But ~130WHP is certainly not enough to make me switch back. Not to put down SMSP, of course. I would take one of their B-series headers in a heartbeat......if I could afford one, that is.
