Right now i'm currently running unfiltered. I baught an ITG filter setup for b16/b18 TWMs so I just need to get the plate cut from a machine shop or somewhere and i'm set.

I dont think theirs anyone on ht thats motor is in my power range that has ;lasted as long as mine .. I have over 300 dyno pulls and over 15k on it currently, I only have repalde the rod bearings.. The motor is still together and made 254 whp on its last dyno pull...
I built it only expecting 5k because thats about the avreage for a motor that makes over 250 whp.

I'll be doing a back to back filtered vs unfiltered TWM ITB test next coming friday at church automotive testing. I will update this thread at that time.

I'm looking forward to seeing that test because I'm in the same situation as you are. I don't want to loose 10 whp but I want my engine to last. Tbone which brands did you test? I thought about using ITG or Pipercross.

Have you taken off your valve cover to look at the insides, or dropped the pan perhaps to check for debris?

i have never found any derbris in my pan or under the vcover.. I stated that it was seen when changing cams, you look at the journals and the rings on the cams themselves..Most cams looked new when I removed them as there was 0 debris in my motor.. only recently did I notice the cam rings.. And remeber that I'm **** , so what I consider rings, is what most guys consider normal wear..

If you have a good set of filters there really shouldn't be any restriction. I run Pipercross one-piece foam kk600 series. You can get the same setup for ITBs--only thing is I had to drill the backing plate--no big deal. I will post pics if anyone is interested.....Jay</TD></TR></TABLE>

Please post the pix.... I'm surprised nobody asked you yet....

aww man... you are not going to "see" wear from not wearing filters, Unless you sucked up something big.. Then there will probably be a more catastrophic failure than "scratches" on the rings... Run a filter, or rebuild the motor more often...that simple.

I didnt get a chance to do a filtered vs unfiltered ITB test today, due to motor pissing oil out around the oil pan under full throttle. A test will be conducted sometime next month.

The throttles werent synced properly which was causing a major restriction up top. We stopped revving around 7k. Even though, the ITB's were trashing the manifold setup all over, around 8hp and 10ft lb in some spots.

Well, not synced means one could be open 5% and the other 8%, while that doesnt sound like much it is. Plus, they werent opening fully, so my WOT high RPM numbers were dropping quickly...

TWM will re-sync your TWM throttles for free, if thats the brand youve chosen, sheepey.
