Do I have enough motor for the SK2 pro2s?
This is a road race motor only:
62mm TB, AEBS Manifold, Stock CTR head, GSR block with LS Crank and 81.5mm Supertech pistons + and SSR 2 step tri-y header.
1857cc with 12.4:1 Comp....is that enough for the pro 2s???
Thanks

Scratch that 62 mm and get 68 mm or 70 mm TB.
Yes, you have enough motor for Pro2s.
Either Pro1 or 2s will work well. My question is where do you want your power band? That will have considerable say in what type of cam you select.
If I were looking for a road race engine, I would want to be in vtec with the lowest rpm possible. Also, you should consider how high do you want to rev. for engine longevity. I built a motor that has vtec from 4800 to 8500 rpm where the torque is flat 133 whp avg. and produces a peak 199 whp. It uses a blox A cams and a stock head.

Re: Do I have enough motor for the SK2 pro2s? (mar778c)
i dug out an old thread i had bookmarked of a set of stage 2's vs. pro1's vs. pro2's. in the end it seemed that the pro2's made max power and torque at lower rpm's than the pro1's. is this what is typically seen?
i would think they would make a little more power up top, and carry further? then again i dont have a perfect grasp of cam specs yet.

you can run pro2's on a stock b16.. And make power..
Will it be the Optium power settings? No.. Will it be useable power.. No..
I think if you have a "STOCK" motor in general you shouldn't be considering anything "PRO".. Compression is only one part of a 10 part equation JESUS CHRIST.
btw marc is right completely.

Re: (mar778c)
I have heard that the pro 2s had better mid range then the Pro 1s????
I had a set of pro 1s last year in a 11.5:1 b18c Type R motor with 64mm TB, ported manifiold and a spoon header.....peak power was at 8650rpm and the midrange from 6000-7500 was weak?

Could have probably pro2ed that motor too.
Spoon header? Garbage.. probably why your midrange was weak.. what exhaust?
Pro1's are a good cam.. Their not ment to make a ton of peak power they're a low - mid - high range cam equally.

Think about it how can cam A have better mid-range than cam b when it has more lift and duration especially if it is going on the same set-up?
If you want more useable power within 4800 to 8500 re-read my earlier post.

Re: (mar778c)
This time arround I will have 1857cc and 12.4:1 Comp.
I know about Lift and duration, but I have alos herd that lobe shape, ramp and relation between intake and exhaust timing also as an effect on characteristics?

Yes, they do. If I were you I would seriously take a look at a s2s1 or a blox A.

Re: (c-techracing)
To be Honest with you guys, I was looking at the Sk2 stage 1 but the reason for this post is that one of my good friends is willing to give me his pro 2s...so I'm thinking about it.
I have used the sk2s1 in a fully build b16 a few years back and I was happy with the powerban the gave me!!!!

yes... but not better.
I rock pro2's and LOVE THEM! go with them if youw ant the most (high rev's more power more tourque better band) the only thing is either way you will see an improvement and both cams are great cams compared to the market but po2's will allow you to rev higher (if everything in your engine can handle it as well)
