Compatible HEAD??? engine missing.
HI i just bought a 91 crx si with a d16Z6 swap on it.
the guy said he put a different head on it.
one of my buddies said if u put a different head on a engine you have to change the gap on your spark plug. because my engine is missine in steady speeds and acceleration in 1st.
if anyone knows the compatible heads with a d16z6 engine and the gaps for spark plugs on those heads let me know please. and thanks alot

you may need to adjust the spark gap if the compression has been altered from stock. i would double check the condition of each of the ignition components first though, just to be sure.
well i have no idea what head is on it. i am a beginner car enthusiast so i dont know how to check this. i know the previous spark plugs were gapped at 048 but they were very worn and i figured they were gapped wrong in the first place because of the missing i was having. but after the replace of the spark plugs at ngk .044's it is missing harder now. so i think its not my timing. the caps and wires look kinda new though. i dont know what to think of it really. i have backfired like 3 times in the past 4 days
oh and it does miss in ALL Gears but only in steady speeds. the only gear that misses while accelerating is 1st
ALSO: does anyone know where the diagnostic terminal is on this car? i cant seem to find it and i have a jumper wire and a diagnostic computer i can use on it... just cant find where to plug it in.

Bump +1
any help on this would be greatly appreciated. every shop in my town has no idea about this. to old of a honda and because of all the aftermarket pieces on it they even have less of a clue. this missing is getting VERY annoying. backfires also -.- . it is missing while accelerating in 2nd now also... if i give it a lot of gas for a ahrd acceleration it doesnt miss

you really need to set the base idle and check the ignition with a timing light and cam timing. that may not completely fix it but it may lead you to something else or at least rule that out. i would also do a compression check for good measure since the head was changed.
if you're local shops can't do that... i don't know what to tell you

well im replacing the wires and caps today because i think that might be it. the plugs dont seem like they are actually plugging into the spark plug except for one of them. seems like they are just sitting on the them .it also seems like i am having a rough start.
WOOT. fixed it guys thanks for all the support but it was completely irrelevant to what we were talking about.
uncapped the distributor .. REALLY ugly... but i replaced that and my rotor button. MY ROTOR BUTTON WASNT SCREWED IN. wtf. fixed no misses. back to my original horsepower.
