..Compression..? You're spinning the motor with hands.

Spring pressure, how big the cams are.. this all plays a role in how hard it is to spin over.

it has no sparkplugs yet...its using the supertech springs the 70lbs and buddy club spec 4s..its spins hard but then it gets to a point where it feels like it locks and i had to use a pipe on the 1/2 inch ratchet to keep it going...

it was spinning freely on the stand...i hope something isnt **** up on the clutch its the only thing im reusing from the old engine which ran fine...and the only variable that change from stand to car...tranny is in neutral also..

someone told me it might be p2v contact....but it shouldnt be touching on the small lobes..if it was on vtec i would have notice cause i degree them in on the settings it has now...but that how it feels like something keeps it from spinning smoothly

Shouldn't need a breaker bar to turn an engine over that has the plugs uninstalled...

Agreed. Much more clearance between the valves and pistons when your not in vtec.

Perhaps try having a friend hold the clutch in while you rotate the engine???

Why wait for someone else? Just wedge a piece of wood or something on the clutch fork.

I wouldn't keep forcing it with a breaker if it keeps up tho...

Sounds like you figured it out. My next question was going to be "did you use the alignment tool properly and did the input shaft slide in with ease".

ya thats happened to me before with the input shaft slightly miss angled, causes it to slightly bined of course i was on my back under the car in 10 degree weather, sucked.... the last time i did a clutch i put an ever so slight bit of anti-seize and i mean as little as u can on the splins and it slides right in u just have to be careful not to put to much cause u dont want to get that crap on the clutch... good luck hope it runs well
