Hello everyone,
I am in the process of building a B18C5 head and I have two sets of rocker arm.
One set is pulled out from a P72 head and another is from PR3 head.
I noticed that on the rockers from P72 head, there is a locking pin on the side of the rocker (in the photo where the arrow points ) and some of them are broke off. On rockers from PR3 head, there is no locking pins.
The P72 head is from a JDM B18C not sure the year, I guess 94 or 95. I've done some research and I found all B series VTEC rocker arms have the same part number.
My question is what is that pin for and does it matter if there is no pin or I should just left the broken pin there? Or just use the set with no pins.

I'm pretty sure that little pin your talking about just helps with keeping the rocker arms aligned when installed. Don't quote me but I do not believe it's necessary for function of vtec as that's what the larger sliding pin is for.

That's what i think. I believe that's for holding the position or limiting the travel of rockers. I guess i don't have to worry about it.
