Default aftermarket pistons 84.5mm are CAST for NA applications?

I am currently looking for 84.5mm high Comp pistons for my NA build

and read that for NA purposes, Cast pistons are better than forged

Other than RS machines because they don’t make them anymore

not sure where you heard that from. Forged is fine for an NA build.

That is simply not true. Forged is stronger, lighter, and more resistant to detonation. That applys to NA or FI. You can make more power with forged components versus cast or OEM equivalents.

I have always liked the cast pistons for the street, I like to use forged only on turbo motors but thats just my my opinion...

Cast is better for some NA stuff. Your bores tend to stay nicer for longer and ring seal seems to last a bit longer, but cast isnt as forgiving tune wise, or RPM wise. Pick your poison.

I understand the forged ones are much stronger
my B20 non-vtec is not a power monster
I believe cast will do the job fine

Also my other concern is cost

Thank you for the info
