[QUOTE=JMU R1]Go for it. The Element is relatively inexpensive[\QUOTE]
Not so sure about that, considering Harrisonburg Honda had a base Element which has no A/C,CD and moon roof for $18,140.

That was probably for the DX with 4WD. Personally I think the DX should've at least had A/C but other than that its not a bad deal. I still probably wouldn't buy one new though. If I could get one for $13-15-ish it woud be more attractive to me. But for that matter I might as well get a used Ford Asspedition for a support vehicle.

Have you guys looked into how low the capacity of this thing is? We were real close to buying one, and then read a review that pointed out that the weight capacity of the vehicle is rediculously low. Take the GVWR and subtract the curb weight, and you get about 660 lbs. Put 4 passengers in there, and your close if not over the GVWR without any luggage or cargo.

paint the gray panels and i think it would look much better. the scion xb looks better with painted panels as opposed to gray. but i'm not a fan of rolling boxes or suv's at all.

I like the xB's looks but the 1NZ-FE, 108 hp engine, even with VVT-i, still spooks me. I drove an ECHO just to see what the engine is like, and it's pretty gutless. I still want to drive one just to see what it's like.

If you could slam one, that'd be great, but you'd have to put 19s on it to look decent (IMHO), and you couldn't lower it that much because of the dumb fuel tank that hands so low. I'm still holding out for the Fit to come over.

The xB and the E are waaaaaaay different cars. Other than the fact they're both boxy, there isn't much similar about them.

Re: Element. To rock or not? (Sushiboy)
FYI, passing on an email I found
D1Grand Prix at Irwindale Speedway on August 31, 2003.
The will have a "Box" Class that entails both the Scion xB and the Honda Element,
(honestly don't know why, since IMO they're 2 completely diff vehicles)
but not even a single Element signed up.
here's the registration info:

I actually saw something about these plastic pieces...the theory is something like this:
Plastic - Cheap...easy to paint...could be MADE painted...NO RUST WHATSOEVER...and if you get into an accident...you wouldn't have to worry about a large piece of fender knocking in at your doors...Disadvantages...not so trust worthy...looks weak when it really is solid.
Also...about the Element...i think its cool...i'd probably get one over a Hummer....lol...IMO...its the other H2. lol the HONDA 2!

Re: (texnteg)
Well I am buying my g/f one soon. We go to the beach all the time, haul bikes, and like the general "different" shape of the truck. I am not buying it to go off road, and would not buy any new vehicle to take off road. For that I would rock a Uni-Mog or an old Rover/land cruiser. It's a practical different vehicle and that is what appeals to us. Plus we can get 2wd EX for about 18K new

I have a 2003 Element EX 4WD, as well as my 95 del Sol VTEC (the latter gets most of my money).
I honestly love the Element's functionality, and for a daily driver it is an all-around kick *** car. I am going to paint my grey panels, and I am going to probably put 18s on it, as well as a supercharger, intake, headers, exhaust, VAFC, etc (whenever one is released for the K24).
I am currently developing cat-back exhaust systems and intakes for my Element as well. I will see what kind of parts can be produced, due to demand, and then sell them. I know a lot of the EOC members want cat-backs, so I'm starting a prototype.
Don't attack the Element. It's functional. If I want to look good, or go fast, I will work with my del Sol.

Re: Element. To rock or not? (boogatheripper)
why does it bother you what someone else drives? its not a truck, the chassis is based off the em/dc5 chassis. its like calling a subaru forester, toyota matrix, or any other tall wagon a truck. it just has more functionality. it personally doesn't suit my preferences, thats why it is a nich vehicle. honda isn't expecting to sell a ton. honda wants to keep its individuality. something it has lost over the past decade because of all its mainstream vehicles. personally, i don't care for it. does that mean i should hate on people who do? no, they are buying a honda and that makes me happy.

Re: Element. To rock or not? (texnteg)
so are you a fan of such other wonderful not mainstream cars such as the "tourage or toe-rag how ever its spelt" and like the baja? Do we realy need auto-mobiles like these,"hey im sorry man im not trying to be an ******* cause i hate a ton of fords like the escpe, personaly i think its worse than the element. I just dont understand why you would "trick out" an element. most people hook up there civic's or acura's for speed or too look good or both, i cant see that in the honda box ...er element
