Default Power Estimates For EP3

My friend has just ordered some Comptech bits for his EP3, and is wondering what kinda power he may be looking at with the following mods:

Comptech Race Header (With Adapter)
Comptech Stainless Steel Cat Back Exhaust
Comptech Iceboxx (When Available)
Comptech Intake (When Available)

How much power over the standard 160 do you think he'll be looking at?

I maybe exaggerating but I would say somewhere around 165hp to 180hp?

I'd say about 160+ to the wheels. Most people with i/h/e on ephatch are putting down that much with just the short/top portion of the header. I'm guessing with the race header, it should put you over 160.

I've heard that the race header gives 20hp in combination with the Iceboxx, exhuast and intake, can anyone confirm?

I just asked someone at Comptech, and the race header delivers 17-22hp with no supporting mods !

The Iceboxx makes 11-16 hp in conjunction with a Comptech intake, Comptech header, and a Comptech exhaust.

I don't know what you mean by the Icebox and the intake because the Icebox IS the intake. And it is spelled with one X....

I wouldn't be too keen on manufacturer's own dyno results, they are usually very optimistic. But 165 +/- 2 whp shouldn't be too far fetched with the race header and the other bolt-ons

Yeah, but isn't it like $1000?

Yup $995 from Comptech's website. That's exactly 2000 dollars worth of bolt-ons. Someone is a high roller.

Iceboxx with two x's is the 'ultra high performance model' yo.

You wrote--I just asked someone at Comptech, and the race header delivers 17-22hp with no supporting mods !
The Iceboxx makes 11-16 hp in conjunction with a Comptech intake, Comptech header, and a Comptech exhaust.

I'm confused, the header makes 17-22hp by itself. Then you say the Icebox makes 11-16 with the header and exhaust, is that an additional 11-16 over the original 17-22 from just the header. What does the exhaust add? From the way you wrote it, it sounds to me like you lose power adding the exhaust and Icebox.

Thanks,
Chris

LoL. That's hilarious... Or probably that's the new Ice Box... Ice Box X (X = extreme), just like the AEM CAI now they offer AEM CAI V2.

I'm sure you'll get some nice gains. Only real way to find out is do a baseline dyno, and then dyno with all your Comptech goodies..

“I don't know what you mean by the Icebox and the intake because the Icebox IS the intake. And it is spelled with one X....”

According to Comptech, the Icebox replaces the stock airbox. The intake is connected to the Icebox, and the Icebox directs air into the intake manifold. With some Comptech kits, the intake is included, whereas with this one you must buy one separately.

“Yeah, but isn't it like $1000?”

The race header is $995, add a $100 adapter so that it can bolt up to the cat, coming to $1095.

“Iceboxx with two x's is the 'ultra high performance model' yo.”

Yeah, yeah, one over/under achieving “x.”

“You wrote-I just asked someone at Comptech, and the race header delivers 17-22hp with no supporting mods !

What I meant was that if you bolt on the Race header to a stock Civic Si with NO OTHER BOLT ON’S, it will produce 17-22hp.

What I meant by the Icebox adding 11-16hp was once that is applied to the car, it will produce an extra 11-16hp ONTOP OF the original horsepower produced by the header, and the rest of the bolt on’s.

Hope that clarifies everything.

Thanks, that is what I was hoping you meant. In fact if it was otherwise, I couldn't imagine that Comptech would state such, their marketing department would need to be revamped.

Hey, it's no problem, if it's coming from Comptech it's going to be quality.
