Definatly. I say keep the ride height and the 5 lug.
Give me the kit, the brakes, and some 4 lug HFP wheels and a k20a2 w/ 6 speed.
where is the honda suggetion box.

Re: (snipersi)
i think this page is getting a bit out of hand.
lets just be happy with our cars. i am sure everyone on this part of the board either has a ep3 or dc5. why not just make it look like a type r, put on some performance parts say like a supercharger and boom you got a type r looking car with more power.
and if they come they come, if they dont then they wont. no big loss. its not like the end of the world if they dont come.

Re: (HXMan)
A few months back, Motor Trend said the CTR was a definite for the US market within the next 2 years. It was one of those "you didn't hear it from us, but...." sidebar things.
Motor Trend is almost always right about these things. They know actual people at Honda who apparently told them to expect it, and that they could PRINT it, but that they couldn't give Honda's "official" confirmation in print. It sounds like typical Honda business to me.
If I remember correctly, they were even given the chance to test drive a UK-spec CTR...this article was in their industry news/first drives section...I'll see if I can find the article later on tonight.

Yes you're correct, the Civic type R is coming. Like I've been saying, I over heard some Honda execs talking about it and they were saying, "it's the worst kept secret ever."

I think I'm actually glad it's the CTR and not the DC5R. The Type S is already quick, and with a few mods it's fantastic. The stock Si, however, is the one that needs the work. It seems like a good car and everything but....6800rpm redline? Come on...
As long as there's an R here, my respect level for Honda stays up.

Within the next two years?
It's scheduled for a new design after '05, isn't it?</TD></TR></TABLE>
I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure they were saying to expect it in mid '04 or, who knows...maybe even '05 for a one year run over here.
Is the '05 new design a fact?
Edit: OK; I've been searching through old Motor Trends for about an hour now and so far this is what I've found:
Crunching The Numbers
Honda's Euro-market Civic Type-R has the same 200-hp i-VTEC engine and six-speed gearbox as the North American-market Acura RSX Type-S. That's why we get the 160-hp five-speed Civic Si. But a 200-hp Civic hatchback is on the way, and it won't encroach on the Acura's market-position supremacy because the 220-hp RSX Type-R will be imported here about the same time. Both arrive within a year.

Re: (Regal)
If the '05 design is a fact, i hope all it is, is getting rid of those bug eyed headlights, and raking the windshield a little with an inch drop for the roof, otherwise it is unnecessary. But they had better leave my beautiful RSX alone or I'll kick their asses!!! Hehe

Cute petition. If the "pay it forward" kid can make a difference...so can you.

I went back to look for that MT article out of curiosity. It was April 2003. They stated that "Relief [from the Si] is on the way"..."Honda hasn't publicly said the [Civic] Type R is coming to the U.S.---but we say it's a done deal."
They estimated on sale in the US in the Fall 2003 as a '04 model. I think "estimate" is the key work here.
I sure hope MT is accurate on this report, but I wonder if this was more one of those prediction hunches based on history, their knowledge of the market demands, and a little hope like the rest of us.
Then there are those who say that we wouldn't/couldn't get the Civic R in the US or N.A. because Acura has to be 'one up' on Honda, and the Civic would undermine the RSX-S, especially the $4K performance package.
