D.I.Y EP3 Steering wheel swap
So today with the help of Heather (and at the very end connor) we put in my new steering wheel. I couldn't stand seeing it sit in my room anymore and just had to install it.
So first here is a comparison photo. Mine being just a A with a H sticker on it verse the real deal
AND! unlike my GSR this swap still uses the air bags. Also silkk, it's the exact same dual trigger system! (safety first :mr-t: )
So first thing you do is disconnect the battery so there is no power!
Then go to work. Pull off the plastic corner pieces covering the screws. To do so just insert a screwdriver in the tabs and pop them off!
Here is the left side
and the right side
Next remove the two t30 torx bit screws holding down the air bag
Then this yellow clip (which is the srs connector) needs to be undone.
The airbag is now ready to be pulled out. Don't pull to hard because the horn wire is still connected in the back. Pull the airbag forward and unclip the blue horn wire
The air bag is now ready to be removed!
now look on the wheel itself, you need to just disconnect one last thing, the cruise control wire. You'll obviously see it, it's on the top
Now we are ready to remove the wheel! Take a 14mm socket and loosen but don't remove the nut holding on the steering wheel!
With the steering wheel bolt loosen go ahead and kinda smack the steering wheel to break it loose. The reason we keep the nut on is so it doesn't go flying once it breaks loose and pulls and breaks wires!
Make sure the steering wheel is perfectly straight, take the nut off, and swap the main steering wheel!
RED STITCHING
now just follow the steps in reverse and you are set to go! Finished product

so whats the difference on the actual steering wheel from the RSX to the ep3? excluiding the airbag. i thought the only difference between both wheels was the airbag and the emblem shape

Re: D.I.Y EP3 Steering wheel swap
so stitching and the airbag squareish emblem shape? thats it?
i have driven ep3s and thinking about it the steering wheel felt smaller. maybe not. same size and dimensions ?
