Honda says the new NSX is scrapped, but I'm thinking more put on hold until the economy shapes back up. There's no way they'd toss years of R&D out the window.

The HSV-010 is solely for competition purposes and probably has little to nothing of what the road going car would offer.

I think they said something even more harsh, something along the lines that don't see themselves being a sports car producing company in the forseeable future. Hence no S2000 replacement either. And as we speak the Civic Type R should just about be ending its life in Europe this month with no plans on a future Type R replacement.

The CR-Z or Civic SI is about as sporty as your going to get for a while. And while this may seem absurd to many long time enthusiasts, let me remind you that Lotus has officially said they are no longer going to make lightweight cars that are made for the everyman to enjoy motoring. So yes, Hell has just about frozen over and if your like me you might want to start looking at the classics for your love in motoring. I've actually gotten bored with modern cars....the whole point of a sports machine seems to have just whooshed over everyones head lately.

During NSX Fiesta, several former and current Honda execs stated that the there is "no new NSX" and crossed their arms in a cross. Then the "no new NSX" statement was repeated again.

I think that reasonable evidence that there is indeed, "no new NSX." At least until the worldwide economy really recovers.

well, no new nsx for "public sale", considering the "new nsx" was released for professional race only.

solely for competition purposes? umm no. one of the rules of super lap battle is that is has to be a production vehicle. the only reason honda got away with being able to race the hsv in super lap battle is that they had all intentions to put it into production but because of how bad the economy was they decided to hold off on producing this beast.

The original was faster around a track than the Ferrari that was in production when it was designed (328) and faster than the Ferrari that came out at the same time (348), so I am not sure exactly what you are trying to imply. The 3.2L version's performance was essentially identical to it's contemporary, the Ferrari 355. Ferrari didn't gain a performance advantage over the NSX until the 360 came out, nine years into the NSX production run.

Around a track. Where 99% of the NSX's and it's contemporary low-end Ferraris AND would never see.

Beside who cares what it could do against Ferrari's lowest cars at the time? I'm sure the 328, 348 and 355 weren't meant to be presice scalpels, possibly except the Challenge models. That was otherwise what the F40, F50 was for. At the time of the NSX's end there were "family haulers", that could haul on an NSX. Let alone actual purpose built sports cars that became it's contemporary.

Don't forget "down" a race track as well. And don't underestimate those qualifications as those are the same charasteristics that savvy auto enthusiasts embrace. Kinda like what you've done below:

Self-referential absurdity.

I think the new sportscar should be under acura, full of new technology, and in the 200-300k, and in limited production just to show the world what honda is all about

This makes no sense, Honda/Acura wants to sell cars, not prove anything. I think they've proved enough since 1948. How many people would spend 200-300k on a Honda? That's why the LF-A should have been priced differently. There are better cars to buy for that much money.

if it isn't mid engine and doesn't have a low stance like the original NSX, it doesn't deserve the NSX nameplate.. might as well call it the Acura WTF..

That looks way to similar to a GTR. Im sorry but I have no intrest in a hybrid, front engine, 4wd NSX (or any Honda "supercar" with those specs for that matter).

I feel like the NSX is the perfect niche car for Honda to keep things "old school" and cater to their motorsports oriented following. Save the hybrid and new era technology for the high end sedans like the TL and RL. I think Honda could have something special over the other manufacturers by offering something different than all of the clones being drawn up for 2012 and beyond.
