is the vtec the same
i have a 98 integra gsr with most of the mods i just got a 2000 type r ecu and was wondering if the vtec switchover was the same asa gsr because it does not sound likevtec is coming on at 4400 like the gsr would so was wondering if the switch over was the same.
Unless you have a Skunk2 or modded ITR intake manifold, the reason you aren't hearing the switch-over could be because your secondaries aren't opening up, though you say you previously heard it before the secondaries would be open. The ITR has a single stage IM, so the ECU won't be sending a signal to the selenoid to open the butterflies.

from what i know the 2ndarys on the geeser are activated by the control diagrpahm (saucer looking thing) which closes at 6k, correct?
which connects to the IAB solenoid on then to the vacuum tank

Yes, vacuum is used to open the secondaries. Actually, vacuum is used to keep the secondaries closed. To my knowledge, the ECU sends a signal to the IAB controller when the secondaries are supposed to open, and the controller cuts the vacuum causing them to open. Some people choose to use an RPM activated switch for this when using a different ECU. Another solution is to run a different IM or disconnect the vacuum line to have keep butterflies open all the time. However, most people seem to feel that keeping the butterflies open normally hurts performance. HTH
