Is it unsafe to stagger wheel sizes on front wheel drive ?
I'm wondering if any of you technical experts know how unsafe it is to stagger wheel sizes on a road car used for daily use.
I am wondering if I can safely run 225/40/18 on the front and 225/45/18 on the back.
Its not going on a type R, its going on an Accord just wondering if any of you guys can help me out on this question.
Reason I want to do this is cause I blew the sidewall on one of my tires and want to replace it with 2 used ones that i found that are slightly larger.

It's extremely unsafe, but only when combined with wearing plaid on a Tuesday morning.
[edit] BTW, if this question isn't about an itr, and you don't own an itr, then why did you think to ask it here?

1) Yeah, people do it all the time. Put the larger ones in the front, typically, for the best/most competitive autocross setup. I ran that at HPDE's too. 225/50R15 and 205/50R15.
2) GTFO!

Yea, but he's talking about running a different sidewall, not a different width.

the guy just wants a little bit of help...why be so rude?
to answer the original question, i dont think it will be a problem to run wheels of slightly different sizes

225/50R15 has a taller sidewall than 205/50R15. The radius is different by about .4 inches (tire is .8 inches taller)

Wrong Forum.

Yeah, exactly. Front two should be the same, and rear two should be the same. 4WD cars should have same front and rear (all drive wheels)
You should even put the small spare on in the rear, especially on LSD-equipped cars.
