Re: Turbo Finally on (ekay_jeremy)
nice! but wheel spin in 3rd with only 7psi? The tires must be shitty as hell. How much whp do you make with 7psi, I guess not more than 280? 300? I am able to bring down 400whp to the wheels in 3rd gear w/o spinning. running on 225/45/16 good year eagle f-1 gsd2.

looks good Jordo.
Just so you know though. traction bars wont help wheel spin whats so ever. Thye kinda help wheel hop, but they dont even really help that that much, Don get your hopes up, you wont be seeing traction any time soon .

Looks good Jordo. Get new tires. Azenis love to spin. I got some 205/45/16 Yoko Parada Spec IIs and I can now get traction in 2nd-5th. I couldnt get traction with azenis till 3rd.

How is that possible, when the Spec IIs are very much sub-par tires? I know the Azenis aren't best for dragging, what with the stiff sidewalls, but still...

Re: Turbo Finally on (sscguy)
my Azenis hold up actually pretty well for the power im pushing. They break loose at the tops of the gears but im betting with anything other than drag radials i can do that. You just learn to cope with it and put on some smoke shows when getting on it .

How exactly are they subpar? I had nothing but traction issues with Azenis and now with the Paradas I have a lot better traction. To me I wouldnt say they are Subpar

What size are your azenis and what size are you paradas?
I had the Paradas on my Lude for a long time..not impressed.
Dry and Wet traction were horrible.
Aside from wear and wet traction the Azenis destroy the Parada in every category.

Re: Turbo Finally on (DsR)
As D said, for dry and wet traction that I've fiddled with, they didn't hold up at all compared to the Azenis. Maybe for some reason they're better for dragging? Maybe because of the much softer sidewall? But then there's still the issue of overall compound and grip...
<--- not a drag racer, so I don't know jack about tire setup for it, just theories.

methinks the paradas he is using are either larger diameter ie 17's on heavier whels, or he just can't hear them spinning
For example the paradas wouldn't make a bunch of noise when they weren't doing what you want... They just wouldn't do it.

Re: Turbo Finally on (sscguy)
My Azenis were 205/50/15 on stock wheels and my Paradas are 205/45/16 on slips. I dont know much about driving in the rain with them since I don't. I have just noticed with my overall dry traction it's alot better.
The Azenis when they get heated get greasy, and overall just sucked for drag racing. Even adjusting tire pressure didnt help much.
But then again I have alot more power to put down than you N/A guys

cuz you dont know how to drive on em yo. i told you they can do alot more then you give them credit for. But yes they do get greasy when they get hot. I know you dont get them that hot though. theres no way , you dont drive it hard enuff.

Ok, Azenis+stock wheels= horrible response, but decent cornerholding.. When you first drive on the stock rollers, you usually aren't impressed because you lose the great steering response you would have... Of course we are talking about drag.
However the lower sidewalled azenis on a 16" rim would "feel" better because they would be more responsive, but the cornerholding would be supbar for sure.
Aside from the more traction for drag the only thing I could think of is, you were launching too high w/the azenis or the parada/16" setup is a bit heavier making it harder to break loose..
I totally agree w/the greasy when hot theory, I've experienced it @the last IVR event I went to. Basically my fastest lap time was the 4th lap, and they got progressivley slower from there. Mind you, I'm not expert road courser and could have been overworking the azenis as well. (I was to busy catching mustangs )
It may not be the fact that azenis are worse, just the fact that the parada is a better tire for your launching style... (there I go making excuses. )
do you happen to have 60' times on both tires?
Good to see you have an open mind, and the ***** to try both. Because after my experience I would have written the paradas off..

Re: Turbo Finally on (DsR)
its driving style. I hit consistant 2.1's on the 205x50x15 Azenis. and once in a blue moon hit 2.0 on them . its all in experience. i can launch them at 5k or so on lower pressures and get them to hook not too bad, but i blaze them at thew top of everygear, becuase thats where my power band seems to be .

Re: Turbo Finally on (itr206)
baaah... Azenis AND Paradas both suck.
What you need now is some Yok A032 R compounds!!!
Get some real traction:
205x50x15 = $163 each @ tirerack.com...
