Throwing ABS codes, need help please
Did a brake job, new rotors and pads front and rear. Now I'm throwing a code. Helms is STILL out of Integra manuals, so I could use some help. ABS codes are 54 and 81. What are these please?
Also, the ABS light never came on, but the check engine light did. There were no check engine codes when I shorted the test connector, but that is when I got 54 and 81 on the ABS light.
I reset the ECU, and then checked again. There were no more codes. Today I drove it again, and after about 30 minutes of driving, I got a CEL again. When I checked, 54 and 81 were back on the ABS light. However I started throwing a CEL 67 too (ox sensor - due to a just replaced exhaust gasket no doubt).
My other question was: If I throw an ABS code, does the check engine light come on?
Background: I did not replace the fluid or bleed yet (to be done this week). During the brake job, I cleaned everything, including the ABS sensors/triggers (blown off with compressed air - were very dusty). I was careful removing and hanging the calipers, so I don't think I damaged the sensor wiring. I will pull off the wheels again and check everything, just in case.
It was fine during my test drive and bedding the brakes. After it was cooled, I took it out for a real test. It was fine at first, but then started throwing a code after a 100-5 mph stop in ABS on semi-wet pavement.
I did smoke the brakes during the final bedding stop (100-5), but not during any subsequent hard stops.
I checked all the ABS and other fuses - all good.
Anyone have any ideas or code info? TIA

According to my 97 ITR supplement:
code 54 -- failsafe relay, though the ABS light should be on
code 81 -- refers to the ABS CPU
Code 67 -- catalyst system efficiency below threshold, converter or secondary O2
With respect to the ABS codes, I think they'll clear up after you drive it around "normally" for a while .... hehe.

Thanks.
Is there a code for when a single wheel sensor is bad? Or could I get 54 and/or 81 if a sensor went bad (anyone experience these errors)?
Threw same codes again, cleared it again. We'll see. When it came on today I WAS driving normally.
(No hard/ABS stops). ABS light never came on, but CEL did again.
It is highly unlikely I have air in the system. I suppose the dirty fluid might contribute. Braking performance is good. Sigh, time to recheck everything.
My cat is probably done, thus the CEL 67. Time to install the new one sitting here.
