Thorough inspection/service (long)
I was kicked off the dyno by torrances finest for fear of my engine blowing up during tuning. The tuner was trying to dial in my VAFC v2 and my engine just did not sound healthy. I am now learning the long term effects of daily driving with spec bs. My buddy (who has been a mechanic for the last 12 yrs) and I are going to inspect my valve train for excessive wear. (general inspection of gaskets, seals, rocker arms, cams, and valvesprings w/valve adjustment). I recently learned that toda belts can stretch? My toda belt has endured two years of severve driving conditions. (hard downshifting, redlining, hpde, driving to work, school, and bars) I would like to know if it needs to be changed as well as what I should check for and or replace.
My friend and I were planning on doing the following this weekend:
general inspection of valvetrain
valve adjustment (valve lash for all toda cams is .2mm in/ex right)
compression test ( do toda spec b and c reduce your comp. test readings?)
leakdown test
replace plug wires
replace valve cover gasket
I had my timing belt tightened last week when it was discovered to be a little lose during an oil change.
My friend is a good maintenance mechanic, I know this for a fact. He just doesn't have much experience with toda cams and performance parts in general, but he is willing to give it a shot. I was hoping those of you with engine building knowledge could chime in and help me get my car healthy enough for the dyno. What else should I do besides the above? I appreciate your feedback.
