Default thieves

on monday my R got busted into and the damn bastards tried to steal my car but were not "good" enough to get it started. they ripped apart the whole steering column, stole my ecu, dented the hood and scratched the driver-side quarter panel. oh yeah they smoked cig's in my car when they were trying to boost it.

this happened on a college campus in the campus police lot in Long Island. i perceived this lot to be very secure for a couple of hours in broad daylight but i was wrong. People with Honda's/Acura's should not park their car in any college lot period. these days **** really sucks and you cant trust anyone or be too paranoid. i am glad that i have a garage at night and all the security measures necessary to make theft more difficult. anyone who cannot put there car in a garage should block it in every night by another vehicle.

i was thinking about selling my car out of fear it is going to get jacked. however i worked something out with the university and feel that the car will be safe when i get it back from the shop.

are there any ways to prevent one's door from being slim-jimed, if so let me know. everyone should have kill switches, clubs and the clutch/brake locks too. perhaps if i had the club they would have not attempted to take my car in the area which it was in. these theives were very, very brazen (spelling).

sorry about the essay, i am just really pissed right now, insurance is slow and i dont have my R right now. at least she did not fall into the wrong hands

Sorry to hear about your car. Like you mentioned, it's a bad idea to have a Type R at college. If I were you, I would leave it home and buy a beater. That's what I do. Beater everyday and POS SI for weekend, etc. Next time around it will be gone!!
Good luck on the repairs..

using a beater is what i am doing during school. i can't trust anyone, not even schoolmates. its better to leave the R at home.

No offense (I've been down the stolen ITR road before myself), but are you nuts? I would never leave an ITR in a college lot unattended in LI. You have to realize that people will spot the car and see you driving into your school's entrance, and that's enough to know it is going to be there. Please don't tell me you go to Hofstra, that place is no better than leaving the car parked on Queens Blvd w/ the keys in it. Please don't become another statistic, get a beater.

I don't even have a beater, I get a ride to school. I only go one night a week though, so it's not a pain.

a beater is the best thing....being paranoid for the R, is just too much! I wanna keep, so its stays in the garage most of the time...it sucks, but it a lot safer.
