stock Type R tires
Hi all
My stock performance tires on my 2001 Type R are almost finished and I was wondering if anyone knows of a good place to buy the same types of tires for a good price.
I really want to avoid buying the tires from the acura dealer. They already rip me off enough on the inspection and oil changes costs.
thanks
elmo

There is an excellent summary of the most popular tires for the ITR here:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothre...21894
The stock tire is an excellent tire in many ways, but it all depends on what your personal priorities are for handling, dry traction, wet traction, cost, longevity, noise, etc.
You can get the Bridgestone, Yokohama, and Kumho tires at the Tire Rack, which has thousands of recommended installers across the country where you can have your tires mounted and balanced.
You can get all four brands of tires described there at Discount Tire, either by getting them shipped to you or at your local Discount Tire location. Another place to get the Falkens is Vulcan Tire.

azenis are great, if you can handle the noise, and the less than optimal wet traction. </TD></TR></TABLE>
And the short treadlife reported by most folks - which makes them roughly the same price as the stock tires, when you look at them on a cost-per-mile basis.

I agree. I got a few more miles out of the azenis. Handling was better on dry surfaces, and about the same on wet. Now since I live in a different area I decided to try the S03.s. I have them in the basement waiting for spring.
