Starter problems
Was wondering if anyone with an aftermarket flywheel that caused a starter problem could let me know what it's like. I've been hearing a strange metal tapping noise when starting the car recently. Now though when I tried to start my car this morning the noise was really bad and the motor was having trouble turning. When it finally did start up it ran fine. Is this what happens when an aftermarket flywheel destroys the starter teeth? I'm hoping this is all it is but my flywheel is Comptech which I assumed would not have this problem.

AFAIK, the only people who have had starter problems are those that run certain JDM flywheels.
EDIT: Flywheel-related starter problems.

Like 27,000 miles on the car. The new flywheel went it a couple weeks ago and I started hearing strange starting noises soon after.
edit-could it be install error? I had numerous problems with my car after the dealer did this install, I wouldn't be surprised if they screwed something else up too.

Hey Surfer, I installed my comptech flywheel about two weeks ago with no problems so far. It's pretty hard to screw up a flywheel installation but then again I wouldn't be suprized (I remember your post about the problems you had with your dealer
).
Didn't you have your flywheel installed while the dealer was doing tranny work done under warrently? I would take it back to them and make them fix it because that is not a problem I have heard of or experienced with the comptech flywheel. Good luck and keep us posted.
