Default On a security note..

Those of you with GPS tracking systems may want to do this as well.
An alarm and tracking system will only operate if it has 12 power and the first thing a theif will do is try to cut that power off. I have installed a aux 12 system in my car in a undisclosed place that will allow the alarm and GPS tracking system to stay active even if the battery is removed from the car.

Very small and light weight . I have it set up so that it will recharge whent he car is on and run a seperate power supply to the gps system so that it can be located even if the main battery is removed from the car.

Less than $30 as for the wiring it will need to be set up with a diode on both leads so you do not have a power drain back during start up or if you leave the lights on.
I am sorry i will not go in to much detail on the complete set up as that would compromise the security of the set up.

Nice!

How's the GPS setup? I was looking into installing it in my car. Which one are you using?

They are the back up power supply for emergency lighting..
I plan to put up a wire diagram for all to use it will be very generic but will enable each person who wants to put a back up in to do so.

My GPS has battery backup built in. I'm pretty sure if the battery is disconnected, it is able to operate for quite a while on its own.

An extra battery is mint tho, extend the life of GPS if required.

The batt back up in mine is not very powerful or very long living hence the back up.

you could always permanently weld the battery into a nice box... like put the battery in a nice hidden location (behind the glovebox...) and box it in with some metal... itd be a bitch if the battery died but it might just be worth the security of your car

Most alarm install places will offer this as an option if they are a good shop

I definitely would like to see the wiring diagram for this and the diode set up, if possible.

To be honest, GPS tracking is pointless. Any theif can easily jam the GPS signal (see http://www.phrack.org/show.php?p=60&a=13 and scroll down).

Invest your money in your insurance plan by having a nice $0 theft deductible.

That is a very interesting thing you did there.

I'd really like to stick poop-smeared punji needles on my driver's seat; if only my car wouldn't smell like total **** the next day.
