Re: radio code? (cxSHOE)
it could also be located in your black planner notebook that came with the car if you got one. But best bet is to call the dealer, however it might require you to check the back of the radio which requires you to take it out.

Re: radio code? (markpaco)
Had this problem a couple months ago. Acura said it was 100 bucks for them to get it, But I was able to find it underneath the fuse box cover. I was told it is a dealer installed option. Did you check there?

You were told wrong (unless you're only referring to the part about writing the code on the fuse box cover). The coded radio was standard equipment in all G3 Integras.

Yes I'm sure you can't believe it but I've heard this multiple times.

I'm not doubting that it's true. But it still seems rather... what's the word... obscene.
My dealer's service department is happy to look up the security code on their customers' cars and provide it at no charge.

I know you weren't, I was ribbing you and completely agree. I can't remember how many times I've heard it over the years though.

My first G3 integra was used and was missing the code as part of the owners manual but the selling dealer supplied the code free of charge.
My second and third G3's, first and second R's came with the radio code card as part of the owners handbook so no issue there.
I've also heard that on some Hondas that the code is even stickered to the top of the radio unit itself.
Some dealers will claim that you need to bring the car in for service and a tech needs to enter the code which is total BS. and Yes they will charge you for said service. Others will just charge a flat rate of $100. sometimes more or less to just look up the number in their database more total BS.

Re: radio code? (1GreyTeg)
100 bucks is ridiculous, they said it was an hour of labor to do it which there rate is around 90 something bucks plus tax. My friend told me about the fuse box cause his code was also located there on his RL.
I was talking about the code being in the fuse box as a dealer installed option. Not the actual code.

"Dealer installed option" usually refers to optional equipment installed by the dealer, such as air conditioning on the '97-98 ITR. It's a stretch to refer to the dealer writing the code on the fuse box cover as a dealer installed option; that's like writing it there yourself and calling it an aftermarket modification.

Re: radio code? (nsxtasy)
As far as rate goes it varies from dealer to dealer, some dealers in chicago are charging 100 bucks, while some dealers in the burbs charge 80, for labor and getting the code for you. I'm not quiet sure about these options you guys mention about the code being at some particular places on the car, again i guess it varies but it doesn't hurt to check those locations that individuals have mentioned. However i would probably suggest to just get the radio out and get the serial number on the back of the radio and call it in to the dealer, i believe its free if you have the serial number of your radio (especially if its the dealer you purchased your car from). Its the labor that is charged by the dealer of takn the radio out, i dont think its the actual charge of lookn it up on their system, again it varies from dealer to dealer so you might have to call around if you do get the serial number from your radio. My best bet is try talkn to len and ask him what your options are. I believe the database is nationwide. Hope that helps, but sometimes askn nicely to a local dealer will be helpful

There are no Acura dealers in the city of Chicago; all nine area dealers are in the suburbs.

That's a much more sensible explanation of the $100 charge. And probably what service departments are accustomed to doing when a customer calls to say that they lost their code.

Re: radio code? (nsxtasy)
well not actually in chicago(sorry i consider dealers less than an half hour away from me part of chicago)... but the one located or use to be located in niles i believe, on waukegan road was going to charge me 100 bucks for labor and the lookn it up for for free. The one in lisle was charging 80 for labor. Sadly but its true it does exist.
I dont really favor the one located in waukegan rd since they tried charging me 1k for a clutch install since according to them my clutch was the problem of my exhaust pipe noises.... did they really think i was that dumb to believe them.

Marc,
I've owned four DC2's. Every single factory deck that I have seen (counting my four owned) has had the code sticker stuck to the deck it's self. You will have to pull it to double check.
Nice anti-theft feature

Re: (markpaco)
the reason the dealer charges $100 is to pull the radio out of the car and look at the serial # on it. if you call any honda or acura dealer parts department with the serial # after you pull the radio yourself, they can look up the code on their computer in about 5 seconds. call different dealerships if you get hassled. i've never been asked for proof of ownership once when i call the two Acura dealers here in Utah for that.
