Problem, Thoughts needed.....
Last night on the way home on I-95 I was revved at by Sentra Spec-V, of courseI just look and ignore the Stunna. Well after about 2 miles of him pacing beside me I was ready to show him whats up. Going about 90 I put it down in 4th nice and easy and punch it, as soon as I gas it begin to walk away. I redline 4th gear and shift into 5th and let out of it. I look at the speedo and it reads like 98mph??????? I am sure you all know that redlining 4th gear you are more like 110-120 area! Car is running great and pulled to Redline in 4th Great! How come the Speedo was reading so low, I know I was going faster the 98 mph!! What are the posibilities, Speedo sliping? Tranny issue? Give me some opinions!
Is it a one time incident? Or, does your speedo bounce up and down all the time? Your speedo cable might be going whack... if ITR uses cable. (my G3 'lude had the problem with speedo cable).
wheels and tires?

With the 205/50 on stock rims you will red line sooner
I'm going to go with wheels and tires... and the burning smell is most likely the rubber heating up to the point of burning
Clutch slipping while just accelerating in 4th gear like that? Clutch is still stock with 38k on it but does not even slip if accelerating hard an throwing gears?
I am leaning towards a Clutch issue eventhough like I said, it does not slip when shifting at redline from gear to gear?

You weren't shifting from 3 -> 4, were you? That seems about the right speed for shifting to 4. Maybe you caught the tach after a few seconds in 5th, with enough time to lose considerable speed (engine braking)??? Better go out and try it again a few times before you get alarmed.

definitely want to see if you can duplicate the problem man.. otherwise, just a freak thing..
you can try mine out tonight if you want something to compare too..
oh yeah, and calling with clutch/flywheel info asap..

Probably time for a clutch ... and lighter flywheel.
I can't think of much else (205/50/15 vs. 195/55/15 is only about a 4-5% difference).

with 205's the speed will still read 120mph (maybe 118-119).. the higher you go the more off it will be.. it doesn't take long to slow down from 120-100 after you shift into 5th and let out.
if your car pulls slower/faster - it should have nothing to do with gear ratio.
this is what i think happened.. in 4th gear the tach doesn't go up as fast as in lower gears, so you probably were at 8000-8100 rpm.
with 205-50-15
8000 should read 113mph
8400 should read 118mph .
Tach might be few hundred RPM ahead of actual rpm.
It takes seconds to slow down by 10mph.. you also slowdown if shifted casualy into 5th

I feel confident that the clutch was slipping. I will go see tonight if I can duplicate. I am interested to see also! Speedo deff said barley 100mph and the tach was at redline in 4th so we will see!
Damn stock clutch!

OK after trying to duplicate this for a while, I did it!! My clutch like I said before is not slipping between shifts. I take it up to 90 put it on 4th slowly then gas it to redline, well at 98mph the Speedometer stops. They car stills pulls very hard and continues to accelerate. So the problem is not the clutch slipping, it has something to do with the speedometer. 98mph and it stops but I can tell in every way that the car is still gaining speed! Will check conections tomm and if not maybe go see the wonderfull local Acura Dealer! I still want a damn clutch & Flywheel though!
U guys ever seen this or have any suggestions on what to do or check, other then the obivious?
