Power Steering leak what to use
I was just wondering what if any kind of power steering fluid fix leak I should use if any. I have a very slow leak and just been adding fluid to it. I guess I can try to repair the power steering hoses. I rather see if there is a brand of fluid to use on a 97 Acura Intergra Type R.

Re: Power Steering leak what to use
I would purchase a power steering pump seals kit .They are about $27 and come with the o rings and seal. Takes about 30 mins to rebuild. 9 times out of 10 the seal on the shaft is failed . It's the one behind the bearing.

Thanks I'm going to look at it better first and make sure it's nothing else. Then I'll try what you said if I find nothing else wrong and let you know.

Well it looks like it has maybe lost a little fluid since I added my last post. I think I may have made it leak out when I was changed my alternator belt. Thanks again for the quick response and help.

Re: Power Steering leak what to use
Where is the fluid coming from? The rack&pinion? The reservoir cap? The hoses? I am leaking fluid and I have been trying to figure it out. I believe I am loosing some at the rack and some up front as well. I am not going to get into the rack at the moment, so I am trying to sort the front leak first. My friend that is a honda master tech told me that what happens a lot of the time, is that the suction pipes will harden up with age and allow air to be pulled into the system, then it froths up, expands and comes out at the reservoir cap. so first I replaced 1,6,7,9,11 and 23. It improved, but was still leaking up front, so I replaced the last suction pipe/clamp up front 6,14,20 (you have an ITR so you would need 6,12,13,20 as you actually have a ps cooler, not just a loop like me). I am hoping this solves it up front or next I will start looking into the seals kit like mentioned earlier.
