Please Help!
I've been debating whether or not to purchase a 2000 Type R. If so I would need to drive it daily. I've been having a lot of plans and doubts about this car. If i do buy it, I would put a nice alarm, good breaks, and maybe headers. But im PARANOID. I've read a lot of you guys saying you woke up the next morning only to find your vehicle stolen. So should I; A: purchase the vehicle, put a nice alarm and don't sweat it, or; B: go for a car less rare and more predictable?
For starters, Can you provide a garage for it?
Can you also provide enough money to protect it reasonably?
Would you have to travel in iffy areas?
Do you mind switching tires when winter/snow comes?
If your serious about getting an R then maybe it would be wise to get either a black or white so you could dress it down, such as remove the stickers, replace the red emblems with standard issue, maybe get wheels that have caps to cover the five lug, removing the wing and tinting the windoes so the interior does not give it way.
Just some things for you to think about.
I don't regret ever getting my R, but do worry about it.
Good luck.

With a Type R you're either going to be very paranoid about theft, or just hope that your insurance gives you a decent amount for it.
Daily driving it (depending on location) puts a lot of risk since more people will see it and can possibly follow you. At home, a garage is pretty much mandatory

I have had my R for a month now and I love it. Yeah paranoia comes with the territory, and I don't even have a garage, just a carport. But I pin my R in between my parents cars at night so it's not going anywhere. I'm also going to get that new GPS system from Viper. It may be just a car, but it will be a car that would be terribly missed.

If you've got a garage then go for it
If not...you have to understand the risk. If a theif drives by and sees your car chillin outside every night...chances are it'll be his eventually.

Hey thanks guys. Yea i will have a garage to keep it in during the night time. However, I do have to drive around iffy places and park in uncertain areas at least 4 times a month. I do have the money to purchase a nice alarm and I don't want to dress it down
. Any more advise?

Just be careful where you park. Make sure it's in a lighted area, and try to park close to the place that your at, where people will walk by and see people trying to jack your car. Go get a good security system with a back up battery/pager. There's tons of posts on security systems...just do a search on security systems and you'll find tons. That's all you can do...that's all any of us can do. Just do the most to make sure that if your car is stolen, its that much harder to do. But if a good theif wants your car...he'll get it.

Get a Civic and learn to drive first.
That way you may not have to worry about all that other grief.

****, I just noticed this kid is 15. Yeah...DON'T get a Type R as your first car. Learn to drive first...and get your "wreckless teenage driving" out of the way before you get an R.

Only a single "header/exhaust manifold" is needed on an I4 engine, unless s/he was planning on swapping a v6 or V8 into it (in which case there would be headers involved (one for each bank).
