Paranoid itr owners...

Re: Paranoid itr owners...
hmmm interesting theory, but i dont think it applies to theft haha.
You wanting a type R is because you like it, and you can control the fact that you can buy it.
You thinking my car won't get stolen won't deter a thief from stealing it.
But to each his own....
You should test this theory of yours out and go an region with a lot of car theft and leave your car windows open and unarmed and keep thinking it won't get stolen.
I'm all for positive thoughts but, not when it comes to these types of things haha.
I had my car stolen, no fun.

^ Thats because your location is Japan according to your info. Its very rare there for ITR's or almost any honda's there to be stolen according to my friend who is stationed in Japan.
hahaha were talking about the USA.. Its only in the US that we have a huge ITR theft problem

Re: Paranoid itr owners...
apparently car theft crime in Japan isnt nearly as bad as it is in the US? and, also apparently, skylines and EVOs are a dime a dozen and Type R's (of any kind) are still pretty uncommon, though not as rare as in the US?

Re: Paranoid itr owners...
I think that everyone can agree that worrying about theft is simply a part of owning this car. There are too many postings of these cars being stolen for anybody with a brain in their head to think that it can't happen. If you think that, sorry to tell you that you are wrong.
Still, being paranoid about it doesn't help either. I think that you have to be realistic. As a Type R owner, you have something that others want, something that others are willing to take regardless of proper ownership.
Simply making smart decisions is the best preventative measure that you can take. Unfortunately, as proven by more than a few owners on here, sometimes even the best laid plans can be laid to waste. It can happen, deal with it.

^^^True statement sir. It's a risk we take as R owners all the time. I haven't heard (and hope I don't hear) of an R owner being approached at gunpoint for their car. If that happens then it means they are willing to go to almost any lengths to obtain an R. I hope I'm wrong here and that it never happens.

Re: Paranoid itr owners...
A positive mental attitude will not deter the actions of others. Period.
I sleep well every night because I put some precautions in place:
1: Don't leave my car where I am out of sight of it, even for a few minutes.
2: 2-way alarm system with GPS function on my Android.
3: Watch for tails when I am driving around town, especially when I am heading home.
4: When I park in the garage I don't leave the door open if I am not in there.
5: Before I go to sleep I:
- Set my alarm in the Garage
- Disconnect the automatic roll-up on the garage door
- Pad lock the sliders on the garage door
- Turn on the baby monitor in the garage
- Set the house alarm
6: Sleep like a baby with my custom short-barrel Remington 870 within arms reach.
At the end of the day I know it is just a car, but it a car I want to keep safe. I sourced it, I bought it, I put it together piece by piece.
