Something about the Championship White shade. I notice it out of the corner of my eye over all the appliance white cars on the road.

That's wild how many shades of white that can exist, you can see the difference clearly in that picture for sure. On the older Honda race cars that were supposedly championship white they had a definite tinge to them. I am used to seeing grand prix white on Honda S2000's which is a more pure bright white, champ white stands out as being quite unique.

What kind of DA? Clear must have been super old/thin to go through it was a random orbital polisher. Either that or you were using a super-aggressive pad and compound.

Haha. 20 year old Honda paint doesn’t take much. I started to polish what I thought was overspray and it just grew and grew.

only way to know for sure if a panel has been repainted is with a paint depth gauge. Unless the whole car was resprayed. Unless you have a known original paint ITR you can compare to.

So is it single stage or clear over base? If you're going to say it's one or the other then provide some evidence and/or experience.

I've owned 3 98 ITR's since 1999 (still own 2), and have had to get some paint work done and I can assure you that it is a single stage paint. If it is done with a clearcoat it has been repainted and done improperly.
The ITR has a paint code of NH-0

Why is it "improper" to use the factory NHO white with clearcoat? Just because that's not how it was originally done? BS. Anything that makes the finish easier to care for is a plus in my book.

That thread has nothing to back up that it's a single stage paint. It's definitely apparent that there's a - involved on the paint code. Does anyone know who was the paint manufacturer in 97 or 98 ? I have a Honda nh0 paint pen from Honda. It doesn't match the white color. It has a second side that has the clear coat . Acura cannot supply me a paint pen. It's discontinued .
