Noisy Engine....
Hey Guys just looking for your opinions. My ITR sounds very clattery and noisy at idle. It has been rebuilt with new bearings, rings etc as it was burning oil but it is still very noisy. Sounds a bit like it has no oil in it (but obviously does) and doesnt appear to be suffering performance wise. The tappets are my main suspect but they have been adjusted to factory specs as have have the valves. Could it be that these are worn and need replaced? When apart there was nothing obviously wrong but it is still really noisy. HELP!

Tappets (I.E. Lifters) are only in pushrod driven valvetrains. being that the b series engines from honda have no pushrods, the valve is directly running off the rocker arm which is in turn running off the cam, thus it cant be your "tappets" since they dont exist in your engine. If you used the same skills to adjust your valves as you obviously completely lack with your clear misunderstanding of how a dual overhead cam engine works, you may want to have someone who knows what they are doing adjust your valves to specs for you. now i could be missing a key piece of info, such as when they 'rebuilt' your motor they stuffed a nice american made V8 under your hood. Here is a real good piece of advice; buy a haines manual and read it cover to cover.

Year One Racing, what mods do you have you on your car? If you have a header then you'll be able to hear a little more engine noise.

I would say....double check everything without having to pull a lot of parts off the car. If you arn't having a problem with performance...don't worry about it.
the haines manual is the one any idiot can buy at pep boys for 14$.. this is the one i recommend for a clueless car owner. the helms manual, while much more expensive is actually the manual the factory and service departments use to work on our cars. if you want the real deal.. get out your credit card, prepare to spend some beans and go here: http://www.helminc.com/ .

Sounds like you drive a type r my friend. Probably normal, hell i allways think my **** is noisy even after a valve job and tune up. One thing that i have noticed after driving my honda for two and a half years now and allways owning toyota's prior to is tat the injectors that honda uses are noisy as hell. Dont understand why, toyota probably uses the same brands.
