Need some help with code 91 with the type r ecu.
I have been trying figure out how to get this code to go away but I've had no luck. The code is "Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor-low input." I'm running a 98 usdm itr motor with a 98 usdm ecu in my 1996 integra ls. I'm guessing it's something small, but nevertheless, I can't figure out the problem. Anyone have any ideas or experience with this code? Also, my idle is very unsteady, rising and falling slightly when the car is idling. At night my car won't idle below 1 grand, but during the day it stays around 700. Not sure why this is either.
Have you tried replacing the fuel tank pressure sensor? If the mil came on all of a sudden maybe your sensor went bad. hope that helps its the only thing I could think fo that might kick that code on.
I can't answer your ECU question, but the car will idle slightly higher with your fan on, AC on, or just merely turning your lights on. Turning on your lights makes your car idle a little higher so that the alternator can produce more juice.
I'm having some ECU problems, too, 98 gsr with 98 usdm itr ecu. I reset the ECU last nite (pull off the battery cable, the positive one, and leave it undone for about 5-10 minutes, and remove the HAZARD fuse inside the motor compartment fuse box at the same time). then put the cable back on the battery, the fuse back in, and let your car idle for about 1-3 minutes. it is very important that you don't rev or do anything to your car (turn on the lights, lower the windows, stuff like that) and just let it idle... this should reset the ECU (it did for mine, but that was just yesterday), and see if the engine check light comes back on. I'm waiting for it to come on in my car.

I think a lot of what you do to reset your ecu is myth. Just unplug it for a few minutes...plug it back in and start it up. I've done this numerous times w/ no problems. When I had problems w/ code 63 and 67 (2nd o2) related...it came on like clockwork. About every 45-50miles it would come on after reseting....but yeah..I agree w/ advancedxgsr

IIRC, Helms says to pull the "Back Up" under-hood fuse (you'll need to reset your stock radio code, too).
