Turbo magazine dynoed ground kits on three cars this month:

S2000 (near stock), Suzuki Aero (stock I think), Mazda RX7 (heavy tune).

Depending on the state of tune, more power was realized. The RX7 gained up to 15 hp at certain rpms, the S2K only managed ~1.5 or so hp increase, really only in VTEC.

Go check it out

The Kmart by my house is going out of business and all of their stuff is on sale. I picked up 40in 4 guage wire plus a battery connector for $7.

KMart has wiring stuff? I didn't know that. Maybe they should have advertised more, then they wouldn't be going out of business

There's like a dozen going out of business near me, i'll go check it out. Thanks

Ok... After reading all of this it seems there are 2 main ways to go about this system...

1)
1. Add grounds to:
- Alternator
- VTEC Solenoid
- Tranny
- Head
- Intake Manifold
- Thermostat Housing
2. Tie all into single grounding point of choice - either neg battery terminal or common chassis ground (up to debate). The point is tying them into a single point.

3. REMOVE
- Stock valve cover ground
- Stock tranny ground?

and 2)

-Firewall to intake manifold
-intake manifold to head
-head to transmission
-head to negative battery terminal
-neg. battery terminal to chassis
-factory grounds left in place

Which do you all prefer?

One more thing: as far as the soldering goes: are you all saying we should solder the ring connectors to the wire we are running (as the new grounds)?

I tried this mod this morning... unfortunately I overtighten it a bit and broke the bolt of the valve cover... LOL
I opened the valve cover and tried to take off the broken bolt but I couldn't do it... so I took the car to a Honda dealer, and they ordered a replacement bolt, and it will cost me about $60 Australian dollars, which is about USD$30.
Now when the engine is turned on, there's some air coming out of the engine...
my questions are : is it ok if i drive it like that (Probably not)?
and... coz i took the cover off, and i found out there was a rubber sealant and on every edges there were something like silicon/rubber glue (sealant)... if i dont use that glue will it leak air or oil? and are there any bad effects?

1 more question, where are the VTEC solenoid, alternator and thermostat housing located?

Thanks guys. BTW... this is my first post... coz i just registered.

Fix everything before you drive it...

clean the gasket with some brake clean.... and remove any loose sealant from the edges....

clean the surfaces...reapply a thin coat of the sealant...close it all up...

then go.

No worries.....

if dealer is doing the replacement for you.... and they go by the book..they will replace the valvecover gasket for you anyway and follow the proper procedures from torque spec to liquid gasket application.

the Alternator is where all the ignition wires are going into (black box looking thing)

VTEC Sol is right in front of it...brownish/dirty brass colored thing

Thermostat housing is where the main water hose is...in the picture..it is the water pipe that flows from the radiator....essentially it goes right under the alternator.

Thought that was the distro. The alternator is out of sight. Look straight down the driverside shock tower. Its got a belt on it.

You definitely do NOT want to ground the distributor.

16 mm2 is more than enough for grounding...

I dont see why not, the distributor shell is already grounded.

I just did the home made earthing system. Did I notice anything? Slight throttle response increase. We did it on my buddy's subaru though and it made a world of difference. Cost of materials: $20 - that covered both cars. for $10 a pop, definitely worth it.

I have added ground cables to the valve cover and tranny but have not noticed any difference in throttle response. LoL.
However I notice that my wallet is missing +-AUD$100 ====> I overtighten the valve cover bolt, n broke it...
Didn't think the bolt would break that easily. hahaha
Should I continue with the vtec sol, alternator, etc? Coz I'm not really sure where they're located (although RagingAngel has told me)...
