Mugen vs. Spoon Rivalry
For those that know more about the JDM scene than I do: Is there a fairly large rivalry beween Spoon and Mugen on and off the track?

Re: Mugen vs. Spoon Rivalry (Flux)
Not really - Mugen really spends more time on F1, F3, etc. Spoon does more of fixing up road-racing production cars. However, that could change as Beams racing is all Mugen parts (it seems) and I'm sure Spoon will want to gun for it.

Re: Mugen vs. Spoon Rivalry (Flux)
not really, mugen parts are mostly either very specialized race parts or higher then oem quality, streetable (always Jasma, VIA, TUV approved) parts
Spoon on the other hand is sort off like a boy-racer style, smaller but specializes in race derived parts from actullay racing in N1, JGTCC, Gymkhana therefore some less streetable but more aimed at actual vehicle....

Re: Mugen vs. Spoon Rivalry (Flux)
If they were Mugen would need to grab a Spoon and tast defeat. Sorry for the bad joke...Seriously though for what we do Spoon products outperform Mugen almost hands down. Don't get me wrong Mugen makes some BAD A$$ Stuff, like a 700$ honda tool kit with the Mugen logo on each piece, and they're exhaust is cool but it doesn't do TOO much. Spoon is just Tripple throwdown hard core.

Its not my perception of Spoon. I think of Spoon as some good ish. I think most of their parts are a little too much $$ for the average 'boy racer'.

I like Mugen better than Spoon, but i still think the Spoon stuff is great. Some of the things I want and have on my car are from Spoon. My biggest beef with them is the logo. I mean a swan? A SWAN?? What kind of logo for a speed company is that?

Re: Mugen vs. Spoon Rivalry (eg6ajk)
but the thing is, thats just for the parts available in North America. I heard Mugen's racing parts are pretty hardcore. if u got the cash, u could prolly get them; but they'd be way more then spoon parts.

Re: Mugen vs. Spoon Rivalry (SpoonCivic)
Remember that Mugen is running in the 24 hours of LeMans next year. If that isn't Race Proven or Race Proven Parts...............What is?

re: spoon vs. mugen
Mugen was founded as a works tuning company for Honda, hence the use of Mugen motors in Formula 1. However recently, Mugen has withdrawn from F1 competetion to focus on other programs w/ in the company. Also, TODA and Mugen have in the past and now worked together on F3 and F3000 programs, and TODA has actually developed and maintained Mugen F3 motors. Spoon, is a VERY respected tuner, however, they do not have/had a direct works obligation to Honda like Mugen has, but they have had factory support and colaboration. However, Spoon and Honda collaborate and exchange information and parts openly. For example Spoon Cams are made from CTR billet cams. All Spoon goods are essentially OEM pieces improved upon by Spoon. One interesting side note, Spoon gets its name from the Spoon curve found on the Suzuka circuit in Japan!

Re: Mugen vs. Spoon Rivalry (spoonek4)
its all gonna depend on your race stats. Street, im going with Spoon, upper echelon racing, Im going with Mugen. It all depends on the aplication of the parts and car.
