Mugen intake
Hey guys
I ordered a Mugen intake from A&J Racing Back in June 09 and now it's finally here. The thing is, it came with a K&N air filter. Just wondering if anyone else here with the Mugen intake could fill me in a little here because I thought that Mugen made their own filter for their own intake. The pics on King Motorsports website show a yellowish gold filter. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated

Re: Mugen intake
^^That has been cleared up. If you read the whole thing, it was a misunderstanding on J's Racing part. They came in saying AJR was selling fake products and threaten legal action, but when AJR called their bluff, J's Racing shut up. If you read the whole thread, it states that J's Racing has taken a silent vow, which means they can say no more and neither can AJR, but they did release the statement saying it was a very large misunderstanding.

Re: Mugen intake
The filter looks the same as the Mugen except it's red and has K&N stamped on the rubber seal. It's also in a K&N bag. I don't think the air cleaner itself is fake. If it is it's an excellent copy. I think it's more likely that somebody in between here and japan pulled a little switch-a-roo but I'm not making any accusations yet. I emailed an authorized dealer and they're reviewing pics I sent. I'll contact AJR when I hear back from them.
thanks everyone for your input!

Re: Mugen intake
I'm not sure what exactly has happened here. I'm not accusing AJR of any wrong doing as of now. I haven't had any previous issues with A&J but I wanted clarification from those that have bought this intake that it should come with a Mugen filter. Once I have spoken with AJR and have all the info I will update the thread

Re: Mugen intake
As a Mugen intake owner myself. They do not come with K&N filters. So this looks very suspect especially in light of their recent past accusations.

Re: Mugen intake
1- decide which picture you want to place here.
2- try to re-size it to a med size : 800x600
3- for resizing needs if you use Win XP : http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/down ... rtoys.mspx
If you don't have XP try using a program such as Photoshop.
4- Once you have the picture edited to a reasonable size you need to host it.
I found these easy to use but you can only load one pic at a time. They are http://www.photobucket.com and http://www.picturepush.com
5- Now that you have used one of these servers you will see a link, Cut and paste that on this site surrounded by [i m g] first and then [/i m g] last (just be sure to eliminate the spaces between the letters.)
6-Now try it out.
OR
see where it says attachments when you post a reply? You can upload pics from your comp there.

Re: Mugen intake
That letter Shawn posted was crazy! If it is true then yea they do need to be out of business.
OP I think something fishy is going on. You wouldn't just end up with a K&N with a Brand new Mugen intake. I could be wrong

Re: Mugen intake
First of all I am not saying yours is fake.
What I noticed off the top was,
Alex tape. It would have come with Mugen tape. Why was the box opened?
K&N filter. Why was the replaced? Mugen filter cost over $200, KN around $50. See a problem here?
The Mugen sticker. That doesnt look like the normal mugen intake sticker. Heres what mine looks like, unless it has been changed recently.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...3500331fix.jpg
Its silver flaked and a diff design than yours. Why?
