Make it stop!
My bumper is turning black. I was washing my R the other day and i see black specks all in the paint on the rear bumper and the hatch on the passenger's side. its got to be something coming out of the exhaust. now i dont know if its burning oil or fuel but I cant get it out of my paint. Any advice how to make this stop?
do you have a test-pipe?
when I had a test-pipe, I had crap all over my bumper. it made my bumper really brown and crap would only come out with semi-harsh pre-wax cleaner (meguiar's pre-wax claner & Zymol HD cleaner).

This happens to my car too, but I have figured out a way to remove it easier. First, use a polish to remove the old oil. A clay bar wont cut it, it will just ruin the clay bar. Wash off the polish, then apply a cleaner wax to the back of the car. Wait for it to dry, then wipe it all off with a polishing cloth. Keep driving... Now when you notice the blackness on the back of your car, just wipe it off with a rag, and it looks brand new. The wax keeps the oil from adhering to the paint. Hope this helps.

I don't seem to have this problem...I keep a very good coat of wax on the car at all times though...plus I wash her almost every other day...so that could have a lot to do with it...oh yeah...and the car's black too.

How quickly does the residue appear on the rear bumper?
I'm surprised this doesn't happen to my car.
Maybe all the dirt prevents the soot from sticking to the car.
Whatever the case, I don't miss it.

if you look close at the pic of D's car above you can read "**** COPS" written on top of the rear bumper cover

Also you need to post pics of your car in the Appearance/Cosmetic forum.

There's no problem here is there?
I noticed the same problem after I got my jrsc. I just assumed it was because I was running to rich. It is hell to get off. The only solution is to wash it a lot more often than I have time to.

You are running rich.
Keep a good coat of wax on there and get yourself a clay bar and enjoy silky smooth paint.
