Default Lightweight setup

Hoping some ITR guys could help me as I know there must be some of you who want some more than the stock stereo, but don't want too much more in the way of weight ... I'm trying to get some ideas on how to put together a lightweight setup.

I bought a Dension Icelink to install... because I'm going to be playing all of my music from my iPod.

I'm not out to have hard thumping base.... but I definitely need more than the stock sound. Would I be best with an 8" woofer in a custom enclosure and small amp, an 8" woofer boozooka tube and a small amp, or an 8" powered bazooka tube?

Thanks for any advice you have to offer.

Light weight and easy removal and you don't want a lot of bass..... I would say your best bet would be those bazooka tube setups with the built in amp.

dynamat the doors and get real nice speakers

then you can survive without the subs and amps

this will only add like 20 or so lbs over stock

i personally havent done this, but considered it when my ITR wasnt for sale

You want decent bass w/out weight? Rock what I got. Infinity Bass Link - 2 10" subs in custom enclosure w/ built in amp with fully custimizable settings. A little spendy but weighs about 15 lbs and is the size of a stock ITR rim

<----------------

Stock cd player, stock speakers and 10" JL audio in enclosure with 250W Kenwood amp..... Good tone, not a lot of weight...... Not to tough to remove for your driving events..... thinking about getting XM.... have fun with it

Laughs at this thread.

SO WHAT if you add a few pounds for a sounds system, It's not going to make your car any slower. It's only going to make you happy to turn up the volume.

<--- has two twelves in the hatch with two amps.

Sound systems are overrated. I completely removed the stereo from my ITR way back when.

Just get a good deck and some good speakers. I hate the sound quality from my OEM ITR deck. If you need some bass, look for an RSX spare tire Bose sub which is what I'm about to install.

Rob, I understand what you're getting at, but you can't say that weight does not make your car slower.

The weight difference, how ever minute it will be, will still make the car slower.

Reid, your right.
But if the guy had it in or out of the car his time would be the same... Not many consistent drivers out there where 10-50 lbs would make a difference

Good luck on getting your ETs down wo what you want

Thanks for the responses. I don't think I want to go the component route. I think I've narrowed it down to either an 8" JL w3 with enclosure and amp... or an 8" 200 watt powered bazooka tube. Does anyone have anything similar, or has anyone heard a similar type of setup in a honda?

Thanks,
Jon

Gutted interior, no rear seats, seat belts, tire, rear paneling, alpine deck, alpine 2 channel, polk momo components. Decent mid range and plenty of highs for rock which is what i mainly listen to.

All depends on what you listen to. Sure, a sub will add alot of those lows, but it really depends on what you what to get out of the car in the long run. IE: auto cross, drag, or show.

You guys ought to go drive a real race car.

The ITR is a softly sprung, quiet, ugly-winged, overweight cushy street car.

After one session on track with the new car, I "got it"

I enjoy it better in every way than the ITR.

Likewise. I guess it's something about the mystique, but I'm reminded of the Mazdaheads refusing to acknowledge problems with the 13B.

It's all relative.
