Re: Kakimoto Racing GT1.0Z for DC2 Pictures and Sound Clip (Phat Bastard)
By lifespan - they probably mean the amount of time you will be able to keep it on your car before you get pulled over by the cops and they tell you to remove it because it is too loud
If you drive your car carefully, and assume the area you live in have a reasonable road condition, then this exhaust will last you a long time. But if you go rally with your car, this is not the exhaust for you!! It just like light weight wheels. In order to make the wheel lighter, the strength would decrease a bit, but if you becareful with it, it will still last you a long long time!!
GSR: I post up one sound clip, and now you want another one? Man, it so hard to make the ppl on HT happy!! Let me see what I can do, I will post up more when I get more. So what kind of sound clip you want? Revving it to 9000rpm in 3rd gear?
Hybrid ctr: So you want to know why with Toda header, Kakimoto catjack, and GT1.0Z will bolt on perfectly to the USDM ITR?

Guess not a lot of ppl like the weird sound after u installed a silencer on a N1 exhaust. But without the silencer, argh the piping is pretty big. I need some better low-mid range response. Too much uphills around my area.

The street model is kinda loud for me already. Can't imagine how the GT1 OZ and N1 will sound.

Also, if 60mm piping on the GT1.0Z is too big for you, then I don't know what is the right size for you!!

I still like them on 2000cc+ turbo cars. Their downpipes are actually not bad. But then for catback on a 1600/1800, I hardly know and see a lot of ppl in Asia are using Kakimoto's catback on their Honda/Acura. Most of them use Mugen, Tanabe, Greddy, Fujitsubo, HKS or RS*R. It's not as hard to get as Fujitsubo IMO.

Sweet, I really like how the GT1.0Z and Kakimoto words are on the muffler, it look even nicer than the words on the Kakimoto R muffler.
Too bad I already brought the Kakimoto R, if not, I would definitely buy this.
The sound file is It seemed like the old Spoon N1 I used to have is a bit louder, but they are pretty close I would say!!

Kakimoto might not be popular in places such as HK and other Asian center because their products never left the Japanese borders as they have never had an export department and was reluctant to sell overseas. But last year, they started to export and their products were and are being introduced in North America now. Just a fact, Kakimoto Racing is probably year in year out one of the top 3 exhaust manufacturers in Japan.

The GT1.0Z for DC2 is over the axle.
I know the GT1.0Z for WRX and Skyline is under the axle and with no resonator.

Do you happen to know the piping diameter of the N1 for a DC2? I'm looking for a turbo exhaust and I know the 1.0z is 80 mm, but I need something that's a bit more duarable

Re: Kakimoto Racing GT1.0Z for DC2 Pictures and Sound Clip (Stock@$$GSR)
Actually the GT1.0Z for ITR is 60mm piping, the info. on the website is wrong. The 80mm is referring to other Turbo car.
The Kakimoto N1 for ITR is also 60mm piping. The only Kakimoto Racing exhaust for ITR that have a 70mm piping is the Kakimoto R.
As for the GT1.0Z is not duarable, the website said that only because of its 1.0mm thickness on the piping. Most of other exhausts in the market now have a piping thickness more than 1.0mm, so if two exhausts are made by same SS material, one is 1mm and the other one is 2mm, for sure the 2mm one would be stronger and take more punishment. (But of course, the 2mm thickness one would be much heavier too, which is not good if you want to save all the weight you can to make the car go faster!!)
So actually all the 1mm piping thickness lightweight system are all not as duarable as other systems that have thicker piping, but it just that Kakimoto Racing actually mention it in their website and where other companys just tried to avoid it.

At my local JDM car importer (I live in England), the most common aftermarket exhaust on the cars fresh of the boat is definately Kakimoto, especially on Preludes

The market for a true 3" exhaust for any Honda car is not that big. I doubt there will be anything soon. But I am pretty sure if you can gather up 50-100 buddies that will want the same style muffler, angle on how the exhaust exits, piping diamter, a production run is forseeable!
