just went to my acura dealership
they told me that they had a computer that can read the ecu telling them what highest rpm it has been to, mileage highest rpm, etc.
is this true or are they just bs'ing me?

bs there is no comp on your car that records that info. only the newer cars have it

I don't think OBD2 can record all the information. But, maybe it could read the highest rpm... but, who knows.

Well if you've done some crazy *** shifting or revving if your ECU threw an error code then they can detect those. So if you've fucked up shifting on your motor bad enough, your ECU will surely let the dealership know.

Re: just went to my acura dealership (sgT)
The ecu records freeze data whenever it throws a code. This data is recoverable with a pgm-tester. If you reset the ecu, the freeze data is lost. All OBD2 vehicles do this, it's part of the OBD2 standard. If you overrev an engine and it does not code, there will be no freeze data stored in the ecu to betray you. The reason the ecu records freeze data is to aid the technician in troubleshooting a cel problem.
