Default Just need a quick reference

I did a quick browse through the FAQ's and didn't really find excatly what I was looking for.....i have a question that needs a simple answer....

I bought an "ITR" head and its stamped PR3-2 on the front it. Just wanted to double check to see if it is INDEED an ITR head. I'm questioning myself after seeing another ITR head that was stamped PR3-3

Pics....

PR3-x where x is 1-4 is the correct "casting" However, you need to double check the IM, and look for green paint by the dizzy. That would give you a better answer.

Don't need dizzy to check for green paint. It's not on the dizzy itself. It's on the head casting near the dizzy.

I just checked my car just now. Noticably, it has no green either. However it's stamped PR3-4 and I looked real close and it has a green speck about the size of a large flea. I also know the heads been off this car, and was most likely acid dipped to clean it when the head was being rebuilt.

Your engine, being a 96 as it is most likely has been off (obviously yours is already off) and it's age could be hard to detect.

I forget which is inner and outer (search could provide that) but you'll see yellow and blue springs. Not the springs themselves, but paint on the tops of them.

Since you asked that question, you won't be able to tell

I think he was trying to imply if it is an stock, unported B16 head. BTW, the bare cast ITR head is identical to a B16 head besides the port work. So even if it does have aftermarket port work, it would make it equivalent if not more. Unless of course you are going after the sentimentality of being able to tell people you have a Type R head.

and yes your exactly right, ITR HEAD as oppose to b16 Head just has a better ring to it lol nah but seriously......i've been looking at it myself ever since i picked it up and I realized that there isn't really a difference. Their like identical twins other then the porting but even so....what is there to say if it was ported that it hasn't been to the machine shop.....just had me puzzled for a while so i figured i'd ask you guys

other then the green paint which washes off,

check for minor polishing like said in the post.

also check for dual valve springs in and ex.

and intake valve is bigger then it would be on the b16.

green paint definetaly isn't visible but head had minor work done to it so it could have been washed off....

does appear to have minor polishing

does have dual valvesprings but they aren't stock, their Supertech dual valvesprings

haven't had a chance to check out the valves yet tho....
