Default Just drove the new M3

I won't go into great detail, Nice car. You can feel the weight of the car when playing around corners, Awesome acceleration - I don't reccomend that many ITR owners should try to play in a straight line. This car had 7000+ miles on it so it was broken in, but the motor sounded more like a stock High reving Honda Motor,
it was kind of like my ITR when It was stock -weird.

That's because the engine rev's to 8,000 rpms. You did know that the Japanese tend to copy the German engineering. The Japanese have a high regard for German engineering with cars.

I've also driven one...my friend has one and I got to drive it, but it only had like 2K miles on it, so not fully broken in.....I'm actually going to NJ to visit him this week and I'll get to drive it all week long...I love that car!

St00pid car broke down *again* on sat. Seems like another fuel pump in 1.5yrs

yoshi - who will never buy a bimmer after having to deal w/ the 530i

I think in this case, Honda had the idea first. Honda's first VTEC was back in 88 (? or was it 90?). I don't think BMW had VANOS until mid-90's. One of the reason why Toyota has VVTL-i now is that Honda's patent expired... and info is open to the public. (I'm sure Toyota took apart Honda engine's before then... but still, good info never hurts.) Correct me if I'm wrong.

The M3 has 2 cylinders more. At 8000 rpm it should sound smoother... The Toyota VVTL-i looks quite different. They use 2 cams in total for low and high profile. A patent expires after 20 years, right? And VANOS is only variable timing, no variable lift!!

I heard 2 on the dyno when we had the MA dyno day. They revved really high and we were like "what the hell is that?" a couple of us ran in to see what sick kind of Honda it was, and it was those E46s...bad-***.

If you think M3 is fast, wait until you drive the M Coupe. Trust me, it has more than 315HP(claimed.) You would think that 333HP M3 will eat 315HP M Coupe, it was the other way around. Get this, you have to pay lux. tax on M3 but not on M Coupe or M Roadster. Price-wise, M Coupe are being sold at or lower than MSRP, depending on the dealer; M3? - you will be lucky if you get $100 over MSRP. But then again, M3 can haul 4 *** easily.

Yep. Thats why Steve Dinan races an M Coupe.
However, I still think my M3 looks better than an M Coupe.

Six electronically controlled individual throttle butterflies for each cylinder.
VANOS infinitely variable timing systems on both intake and exhaust cams.
And are those headers stock?

the new M3.

Probably, that engine **** has been around in Europe since 95, so the new m3 engine isnt all that fantastic. just like the itr and stuff, US is getting the shaft. I'd say there are still some grudges over the Great War.....sorry i hope no one is offended at that

E30 M3 is the real M3!
All the other M3s aren't "raw" enough. That was a NICE car. I still wouldn't mind having the new one tho!

The M Coupe is faster because it's much lighter. BMW has this new system that doesn't require throttle bodies anymore. The intake valves have variable lift between 0 and max lift.......

We took one to the track. It was stock and had 3800 miles on it. It pulled a 1.9 60ft and a 8.6 in the 1/8.
