Re: J's Racing Intake Impressions (PureTeg420)
Am I the only one who wants to know why they use some faux carbon fiber intake filter cover thingy? I'm sorry, but I think it makes the whole unit look cheesy with that at the end of it. I know most of you probably don't care, but I thought I would just ask.

Re: J's Racing Intake Impressions (ThunderLips)
yes, the filter on the intake is crap. discussing it with b2finity or ex0dy, we've come to the conclusion that it is TDM(taiwanese domestic market)hehe. but i wanna see if i can adapt a better filter on mine using a heatshield or something. i was thinking about using a blitz filter but those are $$$$$$$$

Re: J's Racing Intake Impressions ('00TypeR)
From looking at other J's Racing products I don't think the heat shield thing is actually from J's. If you look at the intake from http://www.a-t-s-usa.com/other-produ...s-intake.shtml you can see that it comes with a K&N filter. But why does flux and 00TypeR both have the heatshield thing along with their intake? Did their shipment stop off at pepboys before delivered to their homes?

Classic pic of the J's!
I was looking through my HyperRev the other day and K&N does make those heatshield dealie type filters but they didn't say what colors it came in. I still doubt it really is K&N. Just buy a nicer filter and slap it on there.

Re: J's Racing Intake Impressions (Flux)
How big is the inlet where the filter attaches to the intake sausage? Apexi offers many different applications and also a universal filter also. If you call Apexi and asked them for the size of their filters they would be happy to tell you. I asked about the piping size for an exhaust once and they answered me within a few seconds no questions asked.

I am still having rubbing issues. Basically, I have opted to adjust the intake to avoid rubbing on the strut bar (Spoon). However, this moves the filter up so I have some rubbing on the hood. I honestly see no way that there can be no rubbing at either one or the other of these locations. I have asked several people from A&J about it and they just tell me that they have no rubbing issues...
I suppose I will just come up with something that will prevent the filter from scraping paint off the inside of my hood...
Anybody else with this intake (and Spoon bar hopefully) care to comment on fitment?
Flux - who wonders why nothing is ever as simple as other people tell him they should be...
