JDM ITR Rear Spindle vs. USDM ITR Rear Spindle
Hi All,
I'm working on a 94 EG hatch with a JDM ITR 5 Lug. Problem is, the rear spindles on the trailing arms differ from side to side. One side has a "thicker" spindle "housing" and the wheel sticks out about an additional 1/4 inch. (shaft size and length are identical)
After researching much conflicting information it seems the track width of the rear USDM Type R is 5mm less than the JDM Type R.
Just wanted to see if anyone can confirm this. Purpose being, the car is being fitted with 15x8 wheels and the owner (friend) would like to reduce the amount of pulling on the rear fenders.
So we are trying to go with the spindle that will give a lesser track width to achieve this.(also to achieve uniformity on both sides) So far, tracking down a USDM Type R spindle has been challenging as well.
Any suggestions on parts or accuracy of my statement is appreciated.
Thanks for you replies

I have used civic92-00 and 94-01 integra trailing arms before. Model doesnt matter. just swap out the PITA bolts that hold it on

Re: JDM ITR Rear Spindle vs. USDM ITR Rear Spindle
Yes, I have found out all the trailing arms for those year Civics and Integras are the same. The difference is the spindles. I have confirmed the spindles on the USDM Type R are narrower than the JDM Type R. Now my issue is finding a USDM Type R spindle for the rear passenger trailing arm. I've sourced dealerships, wrecking yards, CL... So far nobody has this part and it has been discontinued by Honda. I'm going to just have to wait and look for somebody parting out a USDM Type R at this point I guess.

Could you not just use any usdm trailing arm and swap the 5 lug hub to the rear? Is the spindle shaft different between non R and R integras?
Summit sells new rear hubs for ITRs if you need just the hub https://www.summitracing.com/int/par...-r?prefilter=1

The spindle I need has to be from a USDM Type R.
I will get some pics of everything mocked up next to each other when I have a chance.

Not sure what it's worth but I used 97 prelude SH rear hubs on GSR rear spindles for my poorman's 5 lug. If you can get your hands on a non R spindle.

This is true, im currently on Non ITR spindles and With ITR Hubs i had to remove the lock washer and ran a Mazda 323 nut. Ive used red loctite and welded the nut on. Ran this setup for a little over a year now and so far so good.

Re: JDM ITR Rear Spindle vs. USDM ITR Rear Spindle
*Update*
Found a known set of USDM Type R spindles. After taking measurements of both spindles, I can confirm the one I have is a USDM Type R.
The JDM Type R rear spindle on the passenger side of the car has been taken off and is being machined to the specifications of the USDM Type R.
Reason being, the USDM Type R spindle/trailing arm has been discontinued and is nearly impossible to find. Looking to get the car back together ASAP.
Here are some pics of the measurements:
This is the USDM Type R spindle shaft
The caliper shows the width of the just the USDM Type R spindle
Will update again when spindle comes back from machining

Re: JDM ITR Rear Spindle vs. USDM ITR Rear Spindle
Hey curious which side is USDM ITR or CTR and which side is JDM? I have the same exact issue and have been trying to find replacement trailing arms. Maybe we have matching halves? I received them this way from a well known supplier that was unaware that they differ so we are probably not the only ones with this issue.
My driver side is USDM ITR or CTR and the Passenger side is JDM ITR. There are also part numbers on each spindle that seem to be consistent between the 2 setups. Based on what I can tell they used different spindles based on what wheel came on the car. USDM ITR or CTR is 03L and 03R and JDM ITR is 7VL and 7VR.
Let us know how the machining goes. I thought about this option as well but my JDM ITR spindle is rusted beyond use which is part of the reason why I noticed the 2 were different.

Re: JDM ITR Rear Spindle vs. USDM ITR Rear Spindle
Edit: reading comprehension problems today, revising my comment.
Thank you for sharing this information.
-From your pictures, the base of the spindle is thicker on the JDM versus the USDM part. Which will push the wheel outboard on the JDM side.
-spindle shaft length is 3”, same for both USDM & JDM part.
Have you looked into the 4x114 JDM ITR rear spindle? Supposedly it is the same length as USDM ITR rear spindle. These are the claims I came across when researching the poor-mans 5-lug conversion using 4x100 rear trailing arms.

Could you post the JDM 4x114 measurement in this thread for others and myself. Is it thicker like the ‘98 JDM 5 lug or the same as USDM?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: JDM ITR Rear Spindle vs. USDM ITR Rear Spindle
It is widely known that JDM ITR's have a wider track width than USDM ITR's, lookup what people are using for a "poor mans 5 lug swap" It'll use usdm parts, If you are trying to keep the jdm spindle then your best bet is some places like JDM Ohio or HMO

No interested in doing a 5 lug swap, it's the track width differences that I'm curious about.

According to Best Motoring, the '96 Spec JDM track width, f&r, is the same as the USDM.

Re: JDM ITR Rear Spindle vs. USDM ITR Rear Spindle
only reason I ask is because I can get a 4x114.3 set of trailing arms and would want to convert it to 5 lug using ITR (rear) calipers. Since 5 lug are a little scarce these days.
or does anyone know if this would work? Not trying to go the poor mans route just in this instance.
