ive been checking around and looking for jdm hid setup and came across a few different versions and i was wondering what year they came from. i know there is the chrome ones (non-itr), theres the black housing, black housing with hid units, and finally there is black chrome housing like the ones on the civic type r. which year did those come from?

 

all I know about JDM headlights is this :

GSR integras came with chrome back housing
96 spec Integra TypeR came with black back housing
98 spec Integra TypeR came with HID`s and with black back housing

 

chrome jdm headlights came from the other integras. however, the type R got the black housing treatment. up until 98, the black housing jdm headlights were non-hid. 98+ came with blackhousing headlights that were HID.

 

01 spec type-r got black chrome hids

yep sure did thanks for the confirmation. 01 is black chrome like the civic type r.

 

any have pictures of the diff between black chrom and regular black housing?

 

Sorry if this is semantics, but wouldn't the 01 spec ITR be a DC5?

 

I never saw or heard of any black chrome JDM headlight

If so, then wth was Honda thinking?

If you read RevHard magazine INTEGRA VOL. 2 to be exact
they talk about 01 Spec DC2
I believe the one on ebay is off SiR and ITR came w/ HID on black chrome housing

Also 01 Spec DC2 was sold for first half of 01
01 Spec DC5 were sold from 2nd half

 

My headlights look like the ones on the eBay auction....hmmmm! I gotta investigate more.

 

TO SETTLE THIS ONCE AND FOR ALL, HERE'S HOW IT GOES IN JAPAN...

GSR (SIR in Japan) integras came with chrome back housing<U>(Late model ones came with the chrome/black back housing)</U>96 spec Integra TypeR came with black back housing
98 spec Integra TypeR came with HID`s and with black back housing (HIDs came out in japan and europe since 96 and honda started using them in late 97...all type r's including NSX, ACCORD and INTEGRA other models even earlier like the Inspire/TL and the Legend/RL)

But, most importantly, you can order any optional equipment for the dealer so any combination is possible.<U></U>

As for the year 2001, in japan you can buy from honda depending on the month either a 01 dc2 or an early model 01 dc5. We in the us don't have that luxury. Thanks.
