Integra Type-R finished????
Hey I heard Honda is going to discontinue the Integra Type-R line? Is this true? I heard the last time you place an order for this car was June of this year. Well, that's the what I heard.

I'm trying to think of something witty so say.
1) glad I ordered my '06 ITR when I did.
2) how was your trip through the Bermuda Triangle?
3) I guess that brown acid circulating at Woodstock really was bad.

I'm guessing, by the time of the post, we're dealing with a regional misunderstanding.
I'll admit, I was looking at the post date to see if it was a mad bump from 2001
The DC2 ITR last model year was 2001, obviously.
I hadn't heard about the demise of the DC5 ITR.

Oh well, I figured RSX will be axed like Toyota did to Celica. Acura slowly get rid of the kiddies image and leave it to Honda which is good. I wish they upscale next generation S2K to Acura.

why do you say that?

Thanks for the links providing proof that Honda/Acura will axe the RSX or Integra line at the end of 2006. It a shame, but at the same time other companies have consistently launched newer models while Honda/Acura still maintained the same lineup. For those thinking about purchasing a more Luxury style vehicle why not look this way - Twin Turbo Bimmer
The all new turbo BMW. If they had only brought the True Type-R to the US.

It's a shame indeed. I had always thought that the prelude and integra/rsx were going to meld together under the us-honda badge. I guess that's not the case. Yet, anyway. Now with the S2k, prelude and rsx/teg gone, you gotta think something is up their sleeve besides the new si. Time will tell.

That may be why they say they're getting rid of it. But lukewarm sales is undoubtedly a bigger factor. In the States, the Integra sold 60-80K cars a year in its heyday, and before its demise was still selling 30K cars a year. Now the RSX is only selling at a rate of 18K cars a year.
I think one factor in those lukewarm sales is the TSX, which has a similar drivetrain and isn't all that much bigger in size or higher in price than the RSX. The TSX is basically just an RSX sedan. (TSX sales are up, now close to 40K cars a year.)

Sadly there is no really compelling reason to buy the RSX over the Civic Si or the TSX.
When you put the RSX out of reach of the Integra buyer, it's bound to happen this way.
