Installing a Spoon diff.
I just purchases a used Spoon 1.5 lsd...came with the 10 bolts and the speedo gear. I purchased 2 new OEM bearings. So I have the diff, the ring gear (fd), the 2 bearings....do I need speciale ring shims and washers?
I'm getting it installed but I want to make sure I have everything
Thanks
Pat

depending on the age of your transmission, you might consider replacing the input shaft bearing also.
Shims might be required but that can only be determined once the diff goes in and the clearances measured.

as far as I know, shims are only available from the dealer. Some have made their own shims just to ensure everything is within spec.
You assemble the tranny once you change out all the parts, close the case and then measure with a feeler gauge, I believe where the axle would go into the casing. I haven't done it in years and don't have my shop manual handy to check.
If the clearance is off, then uh... you shim it to get it back in spec? I thought that was obvious...
