Default Installing a Header Today

Any advice, like how much to tighten certain bolts. I am installing a Spoon 421 header and a test pipe. Thanks for the help.

Spray the cat bolts with wd40.

When removing & tightening the nuts from the head, be very careful not to snap a stud. Its very very easy to do so.

Bring it up from the bottom (common sense).

Clean your fingerprints off of the finish before starting it up for the first time.
Good luck!

WD-40 helps tremendously.
As for the bolts - they're easy to snap? As long as you don't use excessive force - (60+ lb-ft of torque), you should be ok.

Bring it up from the bottom (common sense).
You should add-- bring it up from the bottom and angle it in from the passenger side.. I made the mistake of trying from the driver side (which is impossible without removing a few things). From the passenger side it slips right in

i'm curious...what tools would u need to install headers? How high does your car need to be raised to remove/install headers?

You should have a socket set with a decent number of sizes. That is about it.

In terms of height; when you are installing a header you need to raise the car high enough so that with the header laid on it's size it will fit under the car.

You just need a jack, ramps or jacks stands, and wheel chocks. As for tools, I did mine with a nice 3/8" torque wrench and small extension.
It was tough getting the nuts off of the old manifold. WD-40 is a must. Oh.. and a hammer.

I drove up on ramps (I don't like getting under jackstands unless I have to). The ramps give you plenty of space to work with.

Did you take off the bracket on the side? Also, you'll need to separate the top and bottom piece before you can pull it out.

I know there were two bolts on the side. I think I took both of them out to make sure that it'll come out. I think you only need to remove one though.
The only other thing holding it on would be the bracket right before the cat.....
