How much did you pay for your 90k maintenance?
Welp, I was going to put off doing the 90k maintenance (car is actually @ 100,741) because I was going to sell the car, but now I changed my mind. I'm going to hold onto the R. I took my R to the dealer today for an oil change so that they can do the 29 point inspection and see what I have to change and what not. I'm the 2nd owner of the R and the original owner told me that he has never done anything beside oil change. I've never done anything beside oil change also. Anywho, the dealer told me that my car is in great shape but said that I need to do the 90k maintenance. They gave me a price of 1,800. I was just wondering for those that have done the 90k maintenance, how much did you pay? I'm not mechanically incline, so doing it myself is kinda out of the question.

Re: How much did you pay for your 90k maintenance? (MacH)
What did he say it includes?
If nothing has been done I would suggest:
Replace coolant
Replace transmission fluid
Flush/ replace brake fluid
Spark plugs/ wires/distributor cap/rotor
Replace Fuel Filter
Air filter
Valve adjustment
Timing belt/ water pump/tensioner
You might also want to take it to a Honda dealer, I used to do that and got a better price and service.

i think 1800 is pretty on-par for that service...its actually a pretty extensive service if they do EVERYTHING.

I agree. I'm sure a timing belt and water pump replacement is on that list and that would be half that cost right there.

a tbelt/waterpump should not cost $900 at the dealer unless you have like a nsx...
parts are about $150 and 4 hours of labor x $80/hr = $470
parts are about $150 and 4 hours of labor x $80/hr = $470

Re: (itrSteez)
i'm not sure what exactly the 90k service package includes...but for $1800 i'd expect at least:
- timing belt/water pump
- valve adjustment
- new plugs/wires/cap and rotor
- oil change/pcv valve changed
- coolant flush (obviously must be done with the water pump)
- transmission fluid change
- tire rotation
- all fluids topped off (brake, clutch, wiper)

I think we are at $120. Of course it varies from region to region.

I'd also expect the dealer to send me an enclosed trailer to pick up the car, do the listed service, complete detail inside & out then put back on enclosed trailer and delivered back to my home.
y shi - who knows that's not realistic, but wishful thinking

Re: How much did you pay for your 90k maintenance? (jgirard)
a 90k service at the dealer is gravy for the techs. the billable hours for the job are nearly double what the job actually takes. you pay by the book hours, not how long it takes the tech to do it. add in the typical markup on parts (you'd pay less for the parts buying right from the dealer parts dept.) and $1800 for a full 90k service isn't excessively out of line. That is why I do all my own work on my cars.

i can say this they will not even adjust your valves if they are not making noise.
theypu all this **** into a package so when you look at it your like wow they are gonna do all that ... you really get just fluids changed coolant, oil, trans be careful cuz some dealers do not use oem trans fluid..., rotate balance. wiper blades replaced if needed and all bulbs inspected and replaced if needed..
brake inspection

They don't call it the stealership just to be funny
Thats why I do it myself or take the car to Papillion Foreign motors (about $450 for timing belt/waterpump.)

Wrong. Look at your service agreement. Anything quoted on that service agreement as a service to be done has to be done. If it isn't, you can file a lawsuit as this is a breech of contract.

Re: How much did you pay for your 90k maintenance? (MacH)
Holy Hell!!!!! I work at the 2nd biggest dealer in the world (Boch Toyota) and i don't even think a land cruiser 90k is that much. I do have to say are 90k's we do alot to the vehicle and alot of times in my opinion you loose your shirt doing them from a tech's point of view that is. But the dealership i work at is $104 a hour. But i know for a fact if you hassle them they will adjust the price like crazy to stay competitive. My suggestion would be have the t belt and valve adjustment done and atempt to do the rest of the maint yourself.Good luck

Re: How much did you pay for your 90k maintenance? (Yah Its a R)
I'm trying to find the paper they gave me that shows what is included in the 90k maintenance. But I asked them how much is the timing belt labor/parts cost total, and they said 1100.

For those wondering what exactly is included or at least should be in the 90k interval, it is in the helms manual.

I fell for that too, once. The list at the dealer was much shorter...

Also at most dealerships, when they do a timing belt job (thats all they do)
just the belt. they inspect the pump and tensioner.
So that when the pump starts to leak at 150k..you ahve to bring it back in, thats more money for them...
