HID Problem
I just installed a Techone 5K Hid system to my R. Its a great improvement from the Philps Halogens i was using. Im sometimes having a problem that one of the bulbs blinks and doesnt start ! Switching off the lights and turning them on again will bring both bulbs on. Do you think that a relay will cure this problem ?

be cautious of how many times and how quickly you are turning on and off your bulbs. You could fry them very quickly if not enough time is allowed between turning them off and on. Not sure about your problem itself though.

Im still using the stock fuse. I think it would blow if its too small . Shouldnt it ?

This is a common problem I have seen with the Techone HID kits. If you check the threads in the best buys forums you will see other members with this flickering problem.

What ground should I check ? The ballasts takes the ground from the stock factory connecter which used to be connected to the factory halogen bulbs.

Yeah the kit is brand new. Its only been installed for 2 days !

The kit is completly plug and play with the OEM wiring ! Its supplier said it does not need a harness when I bought it! Though im still waiting for his reply about this problem. But I really dont think its in issue with the kit itself!
The problem is random ! Somtimes left bulb and somtimes right bulb ! Most of the times both of them switch on . I think im gonna try the relay and see if it cures the problem !

how would you 'fry' the bulbs? the bulbs portray an 'arc' opposed to having a wire being heated up...

yes. stock fuse and it should blow....i know my one of my stock 10 amps did blow.
try using 15 amp. works like a charm. you dont want to increase the fuse rating too much..

I will try the 15 amp fuse thing for sure but I want to make this clear; If the stock fuse is 10 amps and the ballasts are draining more than that on startup, it should blow I think.

**UPDATE**
I changed the headlamp fuses from 10amps to 20amps. The problem isnt solved but
The supplier I bought my HIDs from told me that it may be caused by low current when it is started. Im going to install a relay tomorrow. I hope this solves the problem! Anyone running a relay with their HIDs ?

on my oem hids (jdm itr hid ballast and bulbs) i'm not using a relay, but on my philips hid kit it has a relay on the harness already...both works fine with upgraded to 20amp fuse from 10amp

Is returning the kit for a full refund or a replacement an open option at this point ?

I have this problem on my EM1 driver side hid bulb. I found that touching the ballast to something metallic in the engine bay stops it. So I wedged the ballast in between the fuel rail and intake manifold. Works like a charm now. And yeah, its McCullough
I have this problem now and then on my CNLIGHT HID kit also, it only happens on the passenger side (RHD car) It doesnt really bother me as it always comes on after switching them off and on again. My ballasts are waterproof plastic so i dont see how i could ground them unless i took a wire from the ballasts ground wire and hooked it up to the body. I find that if i switch on the city lights first for a second or two and then put on full lights it doesnt seems to happen as often as when i switch the headlights on straight away from off.
