Default Help with unknown sensor

Need help with a broken wire in my engine bay. It leads to a connector which plugs into the thermostat housing where the top radiator hose fits into. There are 2 wires to this plug. The black one seems to be connected but doesn't seem firm. The green one is totally disconected from the plug. What does this plug connect to? Is it the water temperature sensor? I checked and my water temp gauge is working. The fan comes on too at a certain temperature. Just worried it might be something critical. To add, my thermostat has always been removed.

Can I get this plug from a honda dealer? It seems to be part of the engine wire harness. Any help appreciated.

Gary, a picture is worth a thousand words. Take or find a picture here in this forum. Circle the senors/locations in question so we are all clear on the issue.

Yes, its the sensor at the T-stat. Could it be that I have a standalone ECU(PowerFC) which uses another method of turning on the fan and not via this sensor?
