HELP removing JDM ITR Steering wheel from JDM steering column
HELP**
I purchased a JDM Integra Type R Steering wheel for my 94 Integra. The JDM importer I purchased the steering wheel from gave me the steering wheel attached to the JDM Steering column and I am having trouble taking it off. I have removed and installed many different USDM and aftermarket steering wheels on Integras that I have owned throughout the years. However I have never taken a JDM steering wheel off a JDM steering column. I assumed it would be straight forward like the USDM and for the most part it was. After removing the torx screws & clips the airbag slid out and exposed a 14mm bolt different from the 19mm nut that comes off the USDM wheel. I removed the 14mm bolt holding the JDM wheel to the column but the steering wheel wont come off. I am afraid to damage my steering wheel or splines by hammering, pulling or yanking. Any suggestions? am I missing something?

Re: HELP removing JDM ITR Steering wheel from JDM steering column
That's what I was afraid of. Ughhh. I was hoping i was missing a hidden bolt. Iv already used penetrating oil and let it sit over night. It didn't help. I'm going to try heading to the local parts store to see if they sell like a hub removal tool or something.

If you're not afraid to...and very careful to only get the metal spline with it, you could hit it with a propane blow torch for about 60 seconds and then get a friend to grab one end while you pull on the other and try to separate it

Re: HELP removing JDM ITR Steering wheel from JDM steering column
This whole experience has been a disappointment. I went over to my buddies house who has a press. We didn't end up needed it. We found a long 14mm screw and used more penetrating oil. I held the wheel while he hammered and after two to three good smacks it came out. Just to find out that it's actually a CTR wheel and won't fit my Integra. I took it back to the importer and he didn't have any more of theses srs wheels. So I had to settle for 96 spec non srs ITR wheel.

You can't change the hub they are different. The bolts are also on the other side if that was an option. Try a 50/50 mixture of atf and acetone to break the bond . If you can get kroil is also an option. They use that stuff on turbine bolts.
